Question about D-Link DIR-450 Router (DIR450)

1 Answer

Can't get on the system or gets kicked off by something called bandit

Purchased this DIR-450 about a week ago. Have 2 desk tops and one lap top on it. Worked ok for a couple of days. Last night could not get on at all. Everytime we tried to get on something by the name of bandit kept coming up. If we did get on we would get kicked off. How can we fix this? Tried to put in a security pass word. Had trouble with that. Not sure what we need to do. Can you please give us step by step directions for dummy's???? We need these for work and can't work when we can't get on the system.

Thanking you in advance.

Owned the dir-450 Router for over a year worked great until two days ago now I just can't get anything to work. It turns on I can log onto the router go through the setup wizard but the second light from the left stays red. My air goes from blinking red light to green to nothing air card works in my laptop only. It was pretty easy to set up a year ago. How can I test my dir-450 to make sure it's working?

check to see if your wireless connection is on on your laptop and set to work with your router - check to see if your laptop's wireless signal is b/g/n - if it's only an "n" - and your router is a b/g - then you will need to purchase an "n" class router...
normally, routers do not "just work without issues" when you bring it home and plug it in - it should have come with a setup disk or instruction guide - have you completed the steps to connect?

Linksys router vs. hp computer

First of all u should ensure that DHCP server is configured for your required number of computers. this problem seems that you have less clients configured in your DHCP server, existing in router configuration.

Question on setting up two computers

Yes, I have pretty much the same setup at home. Wired desktop and wireless laptop. On the back of your wireless router, there should be 4 or 5 wired connections which you can use. You will only have to use the setup disk on one computer. Basically, the setup disk is for the router, not the computers, it simply guides you through the router configuration process. You can also do this manually, the manual for the router will give those instructions as well.

Purchased a d-link dir-625 so my laptop could be wireless

A lot of laptops have a hardware or software switch to enable/disable the wireless radio. I'd look for that first. I can help you find it better if you provide your laptop model.
