Red light wont change back to green after cleaning

I cleaned my oreck air purifier because it was popping a lot and when I put it back together the red light was on instead of the green that was still on when I decided to clean it. There is a loose wire in the cell and I think maybe I broke it when I was cleaning it or something. Could that be why it's not working right? Can it be fixed?

I have exactly the same problem. Red light was on, I cleaned the collection grid and filter, put it all back into the purifier and the red light is still on. Is there a reset button or something?

I did the same thing and now I need to replace the cell collector. You need to replace it to if the wire is broken. Please let me know the outcome of your problem.

Where to find the part is hard to get.

There is NO reset button - you need a new cell collector. Contact Oreck to see if they can replace

it because there is a lifetime warranty on that part. However, they will probably tell you it is not covered because you broke it during cleaning.

The wireson cell cleaner are very cheap and easy to replace. Any Oreck store should have wires in stock. Call ahead. As for blinking red light, I have same problem and it's not the cell collector because I have a second air cleaner and the red light is off and I switched the cell collectors and red light on problem air cleaner is still blinking. I was told to replace the charcoal filter, which I did and it didn't troubleshoot it. So I'm still searching....... The bottom line is that the air cleaner works fine. Just keep cleaning the cell every 2 to 3 weeks as they recommend.

Thank you for your message. Will call Oreck in the morning and see what they say. I cleaned the cell very carefully just with water, not running water or with the shower head, so I am stunned that the wire would break that easy.
Thanks again.

How do I clean the Oreck Air 7

Hi There,

Here's how you can clean the machine, and I have copied the link to the owners manual below for your convenience.

Cleaning
The Cabinet
You can clean the air purifier cabinet with mild, non-abrasive cleanser and a
soft cloth. IMPORTANT: Unplug the unit from its electrical power source.
Do not spray cleansers or furniture polish into the louver or grill areas.

Collector Cell
Indicator light is green under normal operation and flashes red
when the cell requires cleaning. To clean, proceed as follows:
The red "WASH CELL" light will flash or illuminate when it is
time to clean your cell. However, it is recommended that every four to
eight weeks or if snapping sounds become frequent, clean your
electronic air purifier. Your electronic air purifier is still filtering the air
when the red light illuminates. Cleaning your electronic air purifier is a
snap too... and a must for efficient operation.
1. Turn the unit off and unplug it from the electric power source. If wall
mounted, remove unit from wall.
2. Remove front grill by unscrewing the retainer screw under the grill on
the cabinet bottom. (fig. 1)

3. Pull the cell out of the cabinet by using the two small handles on the
front of the cell. (fig. 2)

4. Snap off the charcoal odor absorber from the back of the cell. Change
as necessary for continued odor removal. (fig. 3)
5. Slide off pre-filter. This can be cleaned with the cell and reused. (fig. 4)
NOTE: Handle the electronic cell with care. Damaged metal plates
and/or broken wires will cause the air purifier to malfunction. (Do
not wash charcoal odor absorber; it is disposable.)
Cleaning with Assail-A-Cell® Cell Cleaner:
6. Using Assail-A-Cell® Cleaner, thoroughly saturate the cell and prefilter.
Be sure to spray between each cell plate and cover every
surface. Allow product to soak for a few minutes, not allowing it to dry.
Rinse thoroughly with water. For extremely heavy deposits, repeat the
process.
IMPORTANT: Dry the collection cell thoroughly outside of the
air purifier before reinstalling it into the air purifier. Ensure
that all areas including corners and areas that may trap
water are dry before reinstalling into the air purifier. DO NOT
place a wet or damp collection cell in the air purifiereff1848.jpg

After cleaning red cell light wont go off

This red light goes on when air purifier needs to be cleaned, also check out whether fan is running or fan is stopped if fan is not running and red light is on then the problem is of filter got wet inside.let the filter get dry then check out.if still the same problem the filter needs replacement. to remove the filter for cleaning or replacement Remove the ESP cell by taking hold of the handles and lifting upwards. and then Remove the Oxygen Plus filter from the unit.by lifting it up slightly. its the filter problem either its wet and needs to be dried out or the filter is got clogged by dust and needs replacement.contact the local service center for air purifier and get the replacement filter.------ This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya.

Cleaning the top of the oreck air purifier

what i normally do, is i take off the top of the and remove the filter, the metal dust catcher, and the back filter... i was the 2 filters and rub them down. then with the metal dust catcher i take a butter knife. wrap it in a clorox wipe (making sure that no metal is exposed to scratch) then i feed it through the metal dust catcher one at a time to clean it. It took me 5 wipes to clean the whole thing. when the wipe comes out black then i rotate it. As for the top of the machine. there are 2 screws that i removed to get to the fan. when they were out i used a can of air (like you would clean a computer with) and blew out the fan... it took care of all noise and it runs just like the day i got it.
