Question about IBM ThinkPad T40 2373 Notebook
I had same problem described above. I also just let it try to start over and over until it finally did. Hasn't happened again since, touch wood. The only thing different before it happened was I had the main battery out to transport it. Could be weak cmos battery perhaps.
Always back up your data!

I have the same problem with my compaq presario [hp]. it's done this to me a few times. what i do is just let it keep rebooting for about 40 times, then ... it suddenly starts up and you get the windows logo login. could be a sign of pending problem or just a hdd function. definately back up your data once you get it going ...

I had the same issue all I did was fully strip the laptop, then place the motherboard in the oven for 15 mins on 150 o/c, reassemble then has been working fine ever since !!!

I had a problem of my Laptop (Presario F700) constantly powering on and off prior to any bios screen (Laptop not in use prior to start-system cool). I gave up on it after a few days and set it aside for a few weeks. Turned it on and haven't had problems since, Although the battery seems to power down quickly now. Seems like a complete system discharge may have solved my problem. Just putting that out there. Doubt it helps for everyone. Just saying check it if you are using it as a doorstop. Might be working now lol.

This is a known fault by HP
If it did it whilst under warrenty Hp would replaced the mother board and update the cmos
I have the same problem and now its just a door stop

If your pc reboots just after post my first place to look is to reseat the hard drive and see if that makes a difference. If it doesnt you could try and repairing your windows operating system or doing a system restore. If the os loads sucessfully then i would say you had a corrupt boot file maybe from a virus or a failing hard drive. I hope this helps
