Could be a battery problem not having enough charge to get past the Garmin screen you might need to replace the battery or it might need to be reset.
Not knowing which model of Garmin it is makes it hard to provide a correct solution. ?
If your Garmin Nuvi 1300 is freezing up or not working correctly, a soft reset can be performed. A soft reset unfreezes the unit and brings you back to the main menu. If a soft reset does not solve the problem, or if you are selling your unit and wish to erase all of your saved information, a hard reset can be done. A hard reset restores the original factory settings to the unit. Once the information is deleted, it can not be restored. Turn on the Garmin Nuvi 1300. Press and hold down the "Power" button. Release the button when the main menu is displayed. The unit is now ready to be used. b> Hard Reset b> Turn the Garmin Nuvi 1300 off. Press your finger against the bottom-right corner of the Garmin display screen. Leave your finger in place as you power the unit on. Release your finger when the display screen asks, "Do you want to erase all user data?" Use your finger to tap "Yes." The unit will begin to reboot. Do not use the unit until the main menu is displayed. The reset process should take about 45 seconds. Try a soft reset and hard reset your iPod Touch if it’s frozen or not responding. Try a soft reset first: 1. Press and hold theSleep/Wake button on the top of the unit until a red slider appears 2. Drag the slider. 3. Press and hold theSleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears. If a soft reset doesn’t work, try a hard reset: Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for about ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Sounds like your ipod has frozen. Try this:
1. Press and hold theSleep/Wake button on the top of the unit until a red slider appears 2. Drag the slider. 3. Press and hold theSleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears. If a soft reset doesn't work, try a hard reset: Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for about ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
To reset the A Series unit... power down the unit. Then PRESS AND HOLD the #1 Soft Key (left most button on below the display window) while you power up the unit. The unit display will come up quickly... then will go to a white screen that says " RESET IN 3...2...1...". Screen will then kick off. That is the MASTER RESET of the unit.
If you continue to see the unit lock up after that, if you have a seperate chart card that you use (Navonics), try running the unit with and without the card. You may find that the Chart Card is causing the unit to lock up. If not, you likely will have to send in the A50D for repair to NH.
A hard reset will erase everything on the smart phone. If you still see your data, then you were not successful in performing the hard reset. In that case, what you have done is a soft reset.
Carefully try one of these two methods:
Main method: 1. Pull the battery out. Put the battery back in while holding the RED button down and a reset screen will appear. 2. Push the up button on the five-way to start the reset process.
Alternate process: 1. Similar to the hard-reset of the Treo 650. Remove the battery cover. 2. Press and hold the Red radio button. 3. Use the stylus to depress the reset button next to the battery. 4. Push the up button on the five-way when you get a prompt to "Erase all data".
Same problem. Soft and hard reset can't even stard any advice screen. When the problem started, it was frozen at the dell round simbol, that i just could turn it off by removing battery. Now, its even worse, the screen is off, even after pressing the two and tree buttons at the same time, it doesn't hard reset. What else should i do?

Hi rossei. this is jamie. I have had this problem for long time but now I tried some else which really worked for me, I hope this works for you too. Well to make it short, disconnect your i-mate jasjam's battry and take your sim card out from your i-mate jasjam and leave it for about 10 to 20 minutes then reconnect every thing back together. There you are, thats fixed now. Its not really 100% solution for this however it works on mine but I do this procedure all the time to get it working, Good luck
