Question about GE GTS22WCP Top Freezer Refrigerator

1 Answer

GE fridge with a top mount freezer

Compressor motor is running full time. The fridge and freezer are not running. Does it need a cooling charge? Should I turn it off so that it does not wear out the motor? Thank you for information. Rick

We have a GE GTS22WC with the very same problem. It is just over 5 years old. Is there anything that can be done with this unit?

GE fridge not cooling. freezer working ok. compressor fan not working

This is an odd thing to hear. Normally when the condensor fan (}compressor fan) Isn't running the freezer is the one who's temperature rises and the fridge stays about the same. I would strongly suggest looking at the main control board, just for the simple fact that 9 out of 10 times thats the root of the problem

Whirpool wgi fridge freezer, fridge not cooling?

Most frideges get all their cooling from the freezer. There will be a fan and duct in the back of the freezer that pushes cold air down into the fridge. If the duct is blocked with ice or the fan motor has quit. Your freezer will work fine but the fridge will barely cool at all. Check that the fan runs when the compressor is running, ( turn both temp knobs to the highest cooling and leave door open until comp. comes on). If the fan runs your duct is plugged. If not you need a new " Freezer Fan Motor". Most are simple to replace and cost around $100.00.

My GE fridge (gss25jemaww) stopped cooling. The light still goes on and off like normal, and the motor works, but the fridge and freezer do not cool anymore. Everything inside thawed.

This tell me the compressor is not running. I would like you to pull the fridge away from wall unplug and remove the cover over the compressor. Feel top of compressor and if too hot to hold hand there keep unplugged and let me know. There are some test I would like you or someone skilled with a test meter to do to eliminate the compressor start components and motherboard. Sea Breeze

My 5 year old fridge/top freezer ge profile just stopped cooling, motor running but no cooling

First thing I need you to do is unplug pull away from wall and remove the cover over the compressor. Feel the top of the compressor and if too hot to hold your hand on the top leave the refrigerator unplugged until we can decide if this is the start components or another part like a fan not working all the time. I will send a manual and be available for assistance if you want, Thanks, Sea Breeze

I have a GE model: sts221cmbrww fridge/freezer with ice maker. I quit cooling suddenly. The freezer runs but doesn't cool and the fridge doesn't even run. Where do I start?

Could be the compressor has failed - time to replace the compressor, if the price is right, else you need a new one. Or, you have a leak in the freon, and it needs a re-charge.

Freezer and fridge areas both 50 degrees

Assuming you have a frost-free refigerator:
Is your motor-compressor running?
If so, check if you have ice in the freezer section; if so, maybe your defrost thermostat or heating element is kaput.
If the motor-compressor is not running, check in the back of the refrgerator if the defrost time is stuck open, bu turning clockwire the small test screw, with a 1/2inch screwdriver.
