It depends how you burn movies (for example). If you burned as data disc, it's probably won't play it. Make sure you burn movies as DVD format.

What size dvd 's are used to burn a movie from my Acer aspire 5517? I tried to burn a dvd and cd once and was unable.

The process is rather simple once you get the hang of it. Many people use various conversion software programs to convert their movie file to prepare them for a DVD. Although in the beginning it is complicated but after a couple of stabs at it. You will be burning movies.
The size normally would be 4.7 Gig standard DVD-R you can use RW if you plan to rewrite over the movie later. It will hold a single movie or approx: 4-5 depending on size if the files are not converted. You can convert the movie files using Winavi this is what I use. or you can try to find any free burning software program out there. Winavi for me was the simplest to process it is a approx: 3 step process.
You will be burning the Video from the file once converted. The audio is included during the burning process. All you need is one DVD-R place in the burner. Then open the conversion software and open the video file and convert and burn that is about it. For higher graphics quality it will take more of the disk space for less or normal it will take approx half the disk that way you can fit two movies on one disk basically. So the process is converting the movie to be prepared for the DVD to work on standard players.
Check out Winavi this is what I would suggest maybe someone else knows a free software conversion program you can use. John

I am trying to burn a dvd from a dvd player using the Dazzle, at the time of the generating the the menu, I am getting the pinnacle instant dvd record error, then the program close! How to fix it?

Program shut down during disk media burning is indication that a device structure encounted malfunction during the process. For example, the computer for an observation should least have any malfucntion. Second the burning compartment as a component part of computer when experince conditon would display notice either as incompartible or least capable attaining an experiece prior to action commencement. Ascertain that the disk medium on which materla it being burned is within standard to capture an impression from the computer. For example, the disk requires the same format as the material requesting burning. Usually DVD device disks are the only media that can create digital movies. Attempting to burn a digital movie on a CD disk or CDR W would least capture response. Also, ascertain that the DVD disk has least been recorded media since is impossible to burn onto a device with media. Also, ascertain that DVD disks are least disinytergral. For example, burining require least scratches or dirt on new disk. If any sccratech surfacese were encounted the computer aborts the process immediatelty to prevent further damage to an enture structure.

I can burn movies onto my pc & make a cd ,they don't work

it's because you are using cd to burn the movies on to and not dvd. your dvd will only read movies from dvd. I know it seems like if you put movies on a cd it should read in a dvd player, but since its not on dvd disk, then it will not play.

Cannot burn AVCHD disk. Get this error

The problem with creator 2009 has been fixed by the roxio people.
Instead of burning directly to the DVD disk as roxio software states,
one needs to first save this to be AVCHD movie as a file and then burn directly from the file. This works OK, but as stated this is different
from what the software claims. I'm happy. Thanks

How can I burn a CD or DVD of a "movie" I made with photos and music? I am using Microsoft Picture It Express 9. Any help would be great!

Hi!

Firs of all you need to think on in what format you having that movie in. I guess you want to play it in a ordinary dvd and and they are restricted, all dvds plays mpeg bur not all plays dvix, xvid etc

When you have decided the format you need a burning program, one of the best is Nero ( http://www.nero.co ) its not free but you can download and try it for 30 days.
Another program is cdburner ( http://www.cdburnerxp.se/ ), that oen is free, not as good as nero in my opinion..but..its free

After installing the burner program you need to select if you need a cd or a dvd disk to burn on, a cd takes 700mb, there are cd:s that takes 800mb but they are more expensive. A dvd takes 4,7gb.

Now its time to burn, start the program select the disk you going to burn on, then its just to drag and drop the moviefile you want to burn. When the movie file is in place, start burning, select the burning speed, dont burn to fast since you burning a movie, i recoemnd a speed of 15-20x speed

After burning, your done! take out the disk ans enjoy your movie!
Let me know how it goes

Good luck
Nic

PS, i asume that you have a cd/dvd burner on your pc

I have tried to burn dvd from movies that I have bured

if you are trying to burn movies that you have previously burned ,all you need to do is, use the copy function in you burning software ,ie
copy from dvd drive "D" to dvd drive "E" , or if you only have one drive
copy from dvd drive "D" to "D" and the program will tell you when to replace the dvd disc with a blank one,so it can write to it.
replace the drive letter in quotation marks with your actual drive letter,

note: quotation marks are not used.

good luck & please rate my efforts
