Question about Apple iPod nano

IPod click wheel frozen

To whom it may concern:
I have a 20 GB iPod that I purchased over 3 years ago and recently the click wheel has frozen and will not move. I can turn the iPod on and off and I can use the other buttons but the click wheel is locked so that I cannot change the music or the volume. I think that this happen as a result of either getting some water into it or because I used it on an iBlaster docking station. It was temporarily fixed after getting the water into it, but after having it in the iBlaster for an hour, it now will not seem to work again. Please help! my ipod click wheel is frozen i can use the hold button but i cant scroll or even select any thing can u help?

  1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.
if nothing happens post me a msg , i'll try further steps to help u

IPod Nano 4 GB -- what gen?

Hello,
If you have the Nano with the smaller screen measuring 1" x 1.25" and got it 3 years ago, you most likely have the 2nd generation. Apple doesn't really have cases on their site for the older nano. I have the same one and purchased my case at Target. They have a good selection of 3rd party (non-Apple branded) cases. You can also check an Apple store if you have one close by.
Hope this was helpful.
Have a great day

  • 1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  • 2. Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

Ok, What we need to do is do a simple test. First hold the power button for 15-20 seconds, then hold the centre enter button for 15-20 seconds. Keep doing this and it should reset!

Try to restart the Ipod.

Hold the select button and the menu at the same time until you see the screen go off.

If still does not work then try to enter disk mode and see if it works.

Disk Mode:
Reboot the ipod via Select and menu, right away hold the select and play button and hold until disk mode comes on. Does the wheel work?

If still does not work then reboot the ipod again and let it reboot normal to go back in apple firmware. If all buttons are working and none of the above works, I would assume it is not software related.
