Question about Xerox Phaser 6120/YN Laser Printer
My 1.2 year old Phaser 6120 has all of sudden started printing on only 3/4 of the 8.5x11 paper and an error pops up stating "Paper Size Mismatch". The top of paper has a rather large white space as if the top margin is about 2-3 inches from the top. I have checked the Paper Size settings and they are fine for the paper we are using. In fact the settings have never been changed. Also, I cleaned the media feed rollers with alcohol and that seemed to help for a day or two.
Interestingly enough, after trying to print a page about 4-5 times, the printer eventually prints it correctly. But if the printer is inactive for any length of time longer than 20 minutes, the problem appears again.
Xerox seems to think it is a paper feed sensor. Of course, the warranty ran out in March of this year and they will not repair/replace it.
Any suggestions as to what this may be and can it be fixed??
You have to spin them backward to get them into a good position to clean them, They will resist you, but just take it slow and clean them with alcohol or formula 409 type cleaner.
But what will often cause jams on that machine is the seperation pad that is located on the paper tray itself. It will get very slick and allow 2 or more pieces of paper to feed, It is a small gray to black pad on the middle front of the tray, about 1/4 inch wide and and inch or so long, If it is smoothe scuff it with some scotch brite then order one or two.
Google a business called "the parts drop" and call Britt, they should have the pads and rollers at a fair price.

You manually rotated the aluminum drum? Since you did that, I would suspect you have the print head wiper blade stuck between the drum and print head. The code you are getting it caused by the print head not being able to move freely.
The jamming is probably due to a bad registration clutch. Common failure on that machine.
You can go to Xerox.com, there is under documentation and drivers a parts list for that machine. You can reference the wiper blade and get the clutch part number there.

We had purchase our Xerox Phaser 6120 printer in 2007.
Last one month is past we can’t printing our staff. We made complain regarding the same to Sunshine Service they told us that the sensor is gone, and they say its every difficult to get it, but they are trying to get it. Also we have spent on baying new toners for the same which is become useless now.

Lift out imaging unit and look down and back toward you, may need flash light, and you will see a 5" x 1/2" piece of glass. Carefully wipe it with soft cloth. Toner gets on this glass and creates the streaks. Often means a bad toner cartridge is leaking toner. Ron

There is a Transparency sensor (called the OHP) which is part of the Registration Transport 116-1164-00
Clean it first. Or replace the whole assembly

1. The document rendering application, such as Adobe Reader, Microsoft Word, etc.
2. The print writer. This is part of the device driver software package. It breaks up a print request and converts it to a standard format that the printer will always recognize and manages transmission of each page to the system spooler or directly to the printer.
3. The printer firmware. I'm not sure of everything this does related to the print stream. But, part of it must manage resources, such as ensuring the right size paper is being fed.
