I had the same problem about the stupid socket. Now it only charges at a very specific angle in my car. Of course, I found it dead in many morning when I get into my car. Could you also please let me know which ones are + and - so I can wire it with a better socket? Thanks. My email: sodium<at>gmail.com

I had the same problem, took the thing apart and checked voltages with a multi meter the battery voltage was 1.5 volts checked all connections nothing wrong put it back together" no go" held the reset button for over a minute, lovely green flashing light! hope it works for you
Try holding soft reset for a couple of minutes whilst charging. If this does not work leave pda charging with hard reset switched off BUT all data will be lost. Then move hard rest and if you are lucky the green charging light will start flashing and you can switch on. It sounds as though you have flat battery and if left too long restarting becomes very difficult as the motherboard cannot start the recharging process while the pda is switched on. This is true even with new batteries which can be supplied flat if old stock.
Even liquid damage is unlikely as there are so few exposed connectors. I have not tried it but gently drying motherboard with a hair drier on gentle setting and cleaning battery connector and screen ribbon cable before assmbling might work. Treat both connectors as being etremely fragile although they are more robust than you might think. But treat them with extreme care as repairs to them would be more expensive than the value of a working pda.
These sockets are on sale if you google enough. Ebay seller totalviews for example. Check its the right socket and be prepared for very small presise soldering. when you open the case, take great care not to break/dismantle the rocker switch that protrudes as it has minute elements in it. If charging is a problem but the socket appears sound,m check the plug that goes into it and ensure the springs go in and out to hold it in place.F4therchristmas
maybe there is a flat or stuffed lithium battery or battery charging circuit in the pin 570. fix: leave unit to charge for 24 h if
the battery still dosnt charge because it is over discharged, then you
may be able to push some charge in it after the battery is unplugged,
after opening the case, and removing the circuit board
