Screen will randomly change positions and sometimes turn black
I enjoy this mp3 player alot but sometimes the screen will change positions and overlap itself. Very hard to explain what happens in detail. And some other times when the backlight fades I turn the rotation wheel and the screen goes completly black. The backlight is still on and all controll is still functional(pause play ect...) but every pixel is dead black. Already tried full reset, soft reset. pulling battery works but only for a little while untill it happens again. Sometimes if I leave it alone black or overlapping and the backlight turns off and I wait for the screen to totally turn off I turn the wheel and everythings back to normal. I think its a software problem. anyone got any help?

OK, first thing, you can stop it by powering it off. The try turning it back on. It's gonna say it again, but just wait a few minutes and it should be on a black screen with the menus like Music, and enjoy!
Your music has likely been put on shuffle. Look on the screen while songs are playing. You will see two crossed arrows or the word shuffle or random. Check playback options and see if random or shuffle option has been turned on. Sometimes the program you use to put songs on the MP3 player will activate this option if the program's playlist is on shuffle.
make sure the battery is fully charged, then disconnect from your computer. Wait a while for the device to cool and try turning it on again. Mine took a few tries but once it sat for a while it didnt fight me again.
Maybe you have the player set to random mode so its playing random songs in random orders. If so, press the round mode button in the middle until "RAN" in the top right corner of the screen is no longer displayed.
Sometimes the player crashes with a blank black screen. It looks like
it's turned off, but it's actually hung. Try holding down the power
button for about 30 seconds, or until the player reboots itself.
Run the recovery tool from the SanDisk website. Make sure you select "format" when prompted.
You need to put the device into "recovery mode" before you run the tool.
- Turn the device off (hold power for 20 seconds)
- Slide the hold switch into "hold" position.
- Press and hold the "record" button while connecting it to your computer. Keep holding the "record" button until you see the "new hardware found" on your computer.
Then run the recovery tool. Select format when prompted.
Best of Luck.
My Sansa has a similar problem. Sometimes when the Sansa turns on (after the Sandisk logo) the screen will either turn black, blue, or black and white stripes. The player still works, but it is hard to navigate without the screen, obviously.
What I end up doing is letting the backlight turn off and then pressing any button. Sometimes when the screen comes back, the display is allright again. But sometimes it takes more than a few tries. Turning it off and on again seems to work a little better, but it is more time consuming.
