I've got a WAP11 v2.2 and a WPC v3.0 on a Dell Inspiron with WinXP Home. For some reason, the WPC just doesn't see the WAP11. I've gone through 2 WAPs and 2 WPCs, so I don't think it's the hardware. Both installed straight from the documentation.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to why i's not working My next attept is to verify that the card slot is working, though it does detect the card, so I'm doubtful that might be the problem. Linksys has thrown their hands up, but I can't believe this is a unique problem.
Welcome to the club. However I replaced the WAP with a Netgear and my WPC found it immediately. What I don't understand is: -
1) WAP "A" and PCMCIA Card "X" can't communicate. (Both Linksys) 2) WAP "B" and PCMCIA Card "Y" communicate fine. (Both Netgear) 3) WAP "A" and PCMCIA Card "Y" communicate fine. (Your situation) 4) WAP "B" and PCMCIA Card "X" communicate fine. (My situation)
This, to me, sounds like a logical inconsistency - yet it seems to be true. ???

Do you SSIDs match on the WAP and the PC? Is wireless enabled on the WAP?
You've probably checked it but just in case...

I wonder if this surprises you. Go to the store and right next to each other are a Linksys PCI card adapter and a Linksys WPC11 version 3.0 card. They will not work together! Why? the WPC11 V 3.0 is Prism 3. Linksys PCI adapters -do not- support Prism 3 cards. This has caused untold grief for many.
Well, I ended up biting the bullet and buying a Netgear MA401 to replace the WPC11v3. Worked from the second I installed it. Now I just need to figure out what to do with the WPC11. The vendor won't take it back, and Linksys basically screwed me by giving me the runaround for weeks.
Anyone want to buy a WPC11 with no mileage?

I have over half a dozen emails from people who can't connect Wap11 v2.2 with a WPC11 V3.0. Some are experts with multiple boxes and many brands. The only combo that won't connect are those two. It's so bad that even Linsys is now telling people to return their V3.0 cards for any other card.
I find it hard to believe that a Linksys WAP 11 and a Linksys WPC do not work together. Do you mean these particular versions do not work together? It seems like others here have gotten them to work on various systems...

Yes, there are many like you who get it to work. There are so many pros that can't get their's to work, that Linksys now tells some people the two are not compatable.
There were things like this with versions 1.0 and 1.1. Example, one firmware update(not beta) worked great for 1.0 owners. While 1.1 owners lost half there setup features. Why? Version 1.1 had half the fiemware memory and could not retain all of the new upgrade. Mean while the updates were supposed to work with all WAP11's at that time.
I just set up this precise combination last night using W2K and it works fine. I used the CD that came with the unit, and downloaded the WPC driver package from Linksys. Other than that the LEDs aren't as bright as on the older card, I have no problems. File copying to my server and back seems fine. Could it be badly written drivers? Greg

Look back for my previous posts on trying to get these two units to work on a W98 system. The short answer - they don't work toegether. I traded the WAP11 for a Netgear WAP and the system worked fine. The WPC card is probably working fine. Can you go to a command prompt and do a "ping localhost" ? My experience was very frustrating. Don't waste anymore time.

I wonder if someone could advise: I downloaded a trial version of Mekko Graphics 4 from thier website. A couple of days later I realised my company had a licence for Mekko Grphics 3, so I uninstalled version 4 and installed version 3. Now when I try to insert a Mekko chart (from Power point) I get the error mesage 'the server application cannot be found or returned an error - you may need to reinstall the server application'. Takng their advise of uninsatlling and reinstalling again does nothing.... Help!!
