Question about Dell Inspiron 1501 Notebook
Try an locate the CMOS battery. it should be a little nickel battery in a yellow casing with a red and black wire connected to the motherboard. check near the ram, and the CD Drive. Once found, remove it. (including the notebook's battery and AC adapter) wait about 10 seconds, plug the CMOS battery back in, the actual battery, and the AC adapter if needed. and you should b e good to go.

Support" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support).
Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operating
system when requested. Look for Manuals and search them for the Bios Password.
You can try the steps below, but no guarantee it will work on every laptop.
You will have to remove the power cord, remove the battery
and remove the CMOS Battery that is located on the motherboard. On most
computers you will have to take the laptop apart to get to the cmos
battery. On some systems it looks like a silver nickel that you will need
a small flat head screw driver to pop it out. On other systems it will be
inside a vinyl covering and has a cable that plugs into the motherboard.
Once you remove the CMOS Battery, let it sit for an hour or two then put it
back in and put the laptop back together. Boot the machine and you'll
probably have to go into the Bios or System Setup because the system will have
forgotten the date, time and password.
