Coolant fan doesn't come on unless I run air conditioner.

"Coolant Fan" is not necessarily a common term used to refer to any particular fan in a standard HVAC system. Are you referring to the "Indoor Fan" that circulates the air within the living space???? OR are you referring to the "Outdoor Fan" or "Condensor Fan" that circulates the air across the outdoor coil ??

If its the indoor fan on an air handler that's not running unless its in A/C mode, it will be a faulty heating circuit fan relay on the main control board.

If its the outdoor fan and its a heat pump system the outdoor fan stops during the defrost mode so there is a slight possibility the system defrost board is faulty and stuck in defrost.

A little more information may help obtain a more specific answer.

Freezer is warming- up to 24 degrees now. something is running- should i unplug the freezer to keep the defrost fan from coming on until repairs can be made?

the fan is not a defrost fan? it helps to circulate the cold air into fridge and freezer. so when the fridge goes into defrost mode the fan and compressor stop running. if ur getting constant warm or heat? I suspect ur defrost timer is not coming out of defrost cycle? the heat is only suppose to last up to 20-30 minutes then back into cold mode? hers a trick u can use that may get u back into cold mode, locate the defrost timer in ur fridge usually at top center. then under the timer u will see a tiny slot or hole. if u stick a small screw driver into that hole and turn slowly clockwise till u hear it click? if its stuck in defrost , it will now come out of defrost and u should hear the fan and the compressor come on, hope this helps let me knoiw if u have any more questions

Coldspot model: 106 725540 freezes sometimes

You can by pass it but I wouldn't. You may need to replace the t'stat on this. This controls pretty much everything. Depending on your model, the defrost cycle can be adjusted to shorter cycles. Bypassing it would eventually lead to ice build up and a real mess to follow .

Inside fan turns on when outside unit is in defrost mode when heat is selected. This causes it to blow cold air for about 10 to 15 minutes prior to the outside fan starting.

The inside fan will run while the unit is in defrost. The electric heat strips should kick on to help prevent you from feeling this cold air. When the unit is in defrost it is essentially running in the A/C mode. You should make sure the electric heat elements are working then go from there.

My upright freezer compressor is running but the circulating fan won't run.I already bypassed the thermostat but the fan still won't run.I also defrosted the freeze manually and still no go with the fan...

The problem is the evap. fan has gone bad. Part # WR60X10235, cost approx. $120.00 or the TJ90sm999 is one that will fit all of them which is only $25.00 and in my opinion a much better fan. Hope this helps. The sm999 has been around for years and is a universal fan which is easily adapted to fit all 115 volt evap fans like yours.

My amana heat pump will start and run momentarily and stop several times, and eventually it works, the house stays at 70 degrees so it works but this does not sound right what's the problem if any?

Hi; I need more info. Do You mean the outdoor unit is stoping and starting while running in a call for heat by the tstat. When heat pumps run if the temperature out side reaches low enough the outside unit will go into a defrost cycle to remove any build up of frost or ice. If the outdoor unit has a dirty coil or a low freon issue this also can trick the unit into a premature defrost cycle. Now here is another scenerio. If Your ac is running in the cool mode and stops prematurly there could be several problems. Low freon level, faulty fan motor causing the compressor to go into a freon bypass mode wich sounds very spewy. Please tell me if you are in heat mode.. Also how old is the unit. Sometimes a severly worn control contactor can disallow all the needed voltage to cross over to Your fan motor and compressor. Watch unit while its acting up... Also when unit goes into a sceduled defrost the fan will stop this is normal and will restart when the unit comes out off defrost You will here this big swoosh sound. Thats the freon being redirected back into the heating path.Let me know...alpharome416

SAMSUNG RS267LAPB

You have a defrost component failure. Either the defrost thermostat or defrost heater most likely. Bypass the defrost therm and place into defrost by turning defrost timer clockwise until you hear a loud click. if heater comes on then defrost therm is bad .If heater does not come on then it is a bad heater. you can check continuity with a ohm meter Hope this helps

Kitchenaid refrigerator not working

it would not be likely to stuck in defrost mode but my guess would be the compressor is not running. overheated or the condenser is full of dirt. as you said , you can hear fan running, is it inside the ref or outside?..or both?..if that is the case, then it is on freezing mode because the fans would not run on defrost mode..i hope i was able to help..
