Question about RCA Lyra RD1072 MP3 Player

1 Answer

Rca lyra rd1072A

When I turn it on it looks like it is going to start okay. The RCA comes up, then please wait. then it shows a little lock in the corner and shuts off. When I hook it up to my computer, the "usb connected" comes up.

I have the same problem and I have done that and the lock key will not go off. Now what can I do.

gailblake- you have tried the switch on the back and it remains locked? If it is the lock symbol that remains, then I would suspect damage to the switch, and there would be no hope.

...unless you are feeling adventurous! Then I would recommend taking the case apart and investigating. An 11 piece mini screwdriver set is available at certain $1 stores. It could be as simple as pushing the actual switch to off and then just leaving the little handle out. You may surprise yourself. Let us know.

You need to switch the lock off on your LYRA. It is located on the back of the device between the pictures of a key and the word "off".

yes...unplug from pc shut mp3 off for a minute...plug it to pc (did it come on turn it on)...please get into the habit of disconnecting any usb connection with the safety disconnect...(green icon in task bar when usb is connected)...since you already deleted all files (format it now) start fresh...now you are able to put your songs on it...but to disconnect do not....do not just unplug the usb

It says exceeded usable memory and shuts down and wont come back on

I haven't seen the exceeded usable memory message on mine, but I am familiar with Pearls not coming back on.

First, perform a reset buy removing the battery for at least 10s. Sometimes mine just shows the plain pearl logo (not the moving one) and then shuts off. Removing the battery for a while and then putting it back in always fixes it so that it shows the plain pearl logo for few seconds then displays the animated logo and starts normally.

If this fix doesn't work for you, then the firmware inside the Pearl is most likely corrupted, and can be easily fixed by running this software from the RCA website and following these steps:

  1. start the program,
  2. remove the battery from the TH1102 & wait at least 10 secs,
  3. hold the play button while plugging into usb,
  4. release the play button the the term "initalizing" replaces "searching",
  5. click the start button to replace the firmware.
Hope that helps.

Pause function for RCA Lyra RD1072A.

This player does not have the true pause you are looking for. The iPod Nano - 2nd generation - has a true pause - once you hit pause it will stay paused and even go to sleep. When you revive the player it will leave off where you left it.

RCA Lyra RD1072A mp3 player wont turn on

Try a firmware upgrade.  I'm trying to look that up right now so that you don't need to thumb through the garbage. everywhere i've read about malfunctions takes an upgrade but still crashes days or weeks later.
