? uninstall the driver completely i.e. L4 uninstallation using the disc ( util --> ccc --> uninstallL4)
? restart the comp
? download and install the drivers frm HP.com
? remember that when you uninstall the printer it should be disconnected
if you have a new printer connect the cable of the printer to your cpu, power on then the comp. will promt you or ask you about the installation disc of the printer, all brand new printers have this, then insert the disc to your cd/dvd rom drive it will automatically run then install it just follow the step by step instruction given to you while you are installing the device
this uses a usb port..depending on your comp.if you do not have an extra port to use, you will have no problem in buying a hub,which will have extra usb ports. also you will have to unplug-set for 5min or so.with comp off replug printer,then turn on comp.
the settings should still be installed on your comp acces controll panel and select printer and faxes this should give you a list of printers yours should be in this list if not have you still got disk if you havent the you could access controll paned and select hardware devices and make sure printer is plugged in then let your comp search for new devices when its finished select the printer from the list if you dont have disk it will ask if you have it select no then the comp will serarch for the setting for you but it should still be installed on your comp anyway. have you tried just plugging it in and trying it to see if it works cus your comp might just set itself up any way i hope this is some help to you
