In order to setup the versalink you need an active DSL account, a phone line cord, a phone jack, a pc or mac, and an ethernet cord or wireless ethernet card. Plug in the phone cord to the phone jack and to the DSL port on the versalink- once the DSL light is solid, plug in the ethernet cord to the computer you have, or enter the wep key on the bottom of the modem into the wireless manager for your system. At that point, if you need further assistance in getting online, contact Verizon or Bell (whichever is your DSL provider)- they can and will walk you through setting up the versalink to connect to the internet.
your westell is a modem/router which means you can hook up more computers wirelessly. yes, if you're using a laptop make sure it has a wireless card and for desktop computer..you have to have a wireless adapter...
I think the Westell Router/modem that you have must be the modem for the DSL connection. Charter is a cable internet service provider. You can not use 2 modems connected to each other. You have a charter modem , you can purchase a wireless router only. That will work. Click Here for more info about routers
Has your wireless router/modem been configured to your ISP's instructions. The blinking PPP or Internet LED means the wireless router is not connecting to your ISP.
You should also contact your ISP to get them to test the connection to your router/modem especially if you have a DSL modem.
yes you have to configure it with the dsl modem plug your modem ether net cable into routers ethernet, open your modem configuration page by typing 192.168.1.1 login by using by default the router login are "admin"and pass word is also" admin" note down dns setting and other setting which yopu may need tosupply the router now open router login page and supply required connection setting change set router default address 192.168.1.2 soit should not conflict whith each other supply dns setting, enable wireless ,set wireless secuirty ,try now
I'm sorry to say but you cannot bypass the modem capability of the DSL Westell Modem/router because that is really made to function as a DSL modem and a router at the same time, so the best way to make everything work here since you change from DSL to Cable internet just need to get a wireless router like a Linksys WRT54G that can make everything work again like before.....
No, you need to buy a wireless router and connect wireless router to cable modem. Non cable modems do not work on cabled wireless network. If you buy cable router, buy either a router with no modem integrated or a modem/router for cable network, this last one may be best option, but it needs to be configured. Ask to retailer which models are ok with your broadband provider.
