The machine starts then suddenly gives a loud pop then the seal is broken and coffee LEAKS out

  • Anonymous Sep 20, 2012

I fnally gave up trying to get help from Senseo who only wanted me to buy another brand, so I went on line to eBay and got a replacement for a very reasonable price. Poor marks for Senseo. PS, I have started using the commercially available reusable coffee holders since Senseo dark roast is so hard to get. Another bad mark for Senseo. Pity, since the machine is a good idea and I like the way it froths.

That's one for the repair shop, really. The seal is usually bent inwards so it can withstand the pressure of the hot water, but once it's able to flex out it needs to be replaced.

I suggest initial contact is with the person or organisation that sold you the machine.

Sounds like an expensive problem. Might be easier to buy another one sand, since Senseo pods are getting harder to find, maybe time to consider another brand.

My Rancilio Silvia won't pump water out of the head all of a sudden. It had worked for years up to this point

It may be that the 'shower screen' which is a perforated metal disk filter that fits inside the head has reached its use by date.
These can be found and bought on E-bay for about $15 each, make sure you buy a genuine Rancilio replacement, while you are at it, replace the rubber 'group seal' - a rubber ring for pressure sealing the head/arm after filling the arm with grounds - these are a similar price. If you get leaks around the head while making a coffee, the seal is worn out.

My Krups F880 4238 (Vivo) which is just over one year old leaks aound the dispensing cap when activated to deliver coffee. Is there a seal which might need replacing? Thankyou . Michael Hill

Hello,
I have the same coffee machine, same problem. there is a black ring rubber seal. Mine is broken and I'm trying to buy a new one. There are a few places to get them from but they either charge quite a lot for P&P or small delivery charge, or only accept a strange kind of credit card that I don't have. If you have any luck getting one, let me know. : - )

My Bunn coffee pot leaks water theres always a puddle of water under the pot.coffee pot is over half full

It sounds like you have a broken seal/gasket. Please get the model and date code located on the bottom of the machine and call customer service. The machine has a 3 year warranty so if it is 3 years old or less, it will be replaced at no cost. If it is over 3 years old, it will be replaced at a discounted price.

The machine leaks water all over the counter when starting brew

My keurig did the same thing, the rubber grommet around the part that punctures the cup gets grounds on it and prevents a complete seal. Pop of the grommet and clean it and it will be good as new.

Gusto- water leaks over the grounds instead of filtering through

The holes in the metal coffee ground holder/filter are probably clogged. I have had this happen and it has cleared when I cleaned the holes in the coffee holder. I used the cut off head of a toothbrush and pushed the bristles through the holes. If you hold the filter to the light before and after cleaning, you can see the change in the proportion of closed holes.
