There should be an ICON on the menu to turn wireless on, Other wise under the manage connections icon, you must place a tick in the network box.

Also try pulling out the battery while the device is on. then put back in.

I am going abroad and I want to turn off receiving emails to my blackberry pearl while I am away. I only want to make calls and receive texts. How do I deactivate the email application?

Hello.

First, contact your provider and discuss International calling with them. Then, before arriving, turn off data services, so you will not have the expensive costs for data access, including email. For my provider (Verizon), there was a cost to send and receive texts, so be certain of the costs before traveling.

I recently traveled to Mexico from the US, so I evaluated all of the costs for my Blackberry.

Hope this helps.

I stopped receiving text messages. I can send but not text. I have coverage and it is included in my plan. Can I fix this somehow myself or do I have to take my phone to a store

hi there,
call the customer service of your service provider ( AT&T,Vodafone,Verizon etc)....they will set up message center number on your phone , the one that you have might be incorrect...your mobile operator will send you sim updates that will refresh the settings ....and then you will get the text message options...no need to go to a store :)
cheers

How to get blackberry cdma by telus to work with

It is not possible to make a blackberry made for Telus to work on the Verizon network. Verizon will NOT activate any phone other than one sold for the Verizon network.

My blackberry keeps shutting itself down and restarting at least two or three times a day. called my phone company and they just act like im making it up

I know you are not making it up. I had a blackberry curve that would do the same thing. Every time when I was talking on the phone and an email or text would come through my phone would shut off and turn back on, and go through this reboot thing for a long time. I got a different phone from my boss and it never did that. Call Blackberry and report it to them. I know I did and they'd never heard of it, but they didn't treat me like I was crazy. Maybe they can help?

The wireless connection problems for blackberry pearl

I can't think what may have cause it. I would suggest resetting the phone by turning the handset off removing the battery. Leave for 1 minute and re-insert and turn device on.

Go to networks and allow the device to search networks automatically and turn data service on.

Let me know how you get on.

RIM BlackBerry Pearl 8130 Cell Phone won't shut off or turn on

Reflash the phone using the Blackberry desktop. You need to download the latest firmware from your service provider's site and install it to your computer. Connect your phone without battery and using the APP LOADER flash it and when thats done, do the flash again with the batery in.
