Driver for Pretec DC-300 Digital Camera for Windows Vista

My old Pretec DC-300 dates to about 1996 worked perfectly with my then computer running Windows 95, and then on a replacement Compaq computer running Windows 98 with MGIPhotosuite se software. When that computer died, it was replaced with a Dell inspiron 530 running Windows Vista. The old MGI Photosuite se software won't load on the new computer. MGI Software Corporation has dissappeared and neither the camera or the Owners' Manual bears the name of the manufacturer. All I know is that the camera was "Made in Taiwan". Is there a Driver to mate this old camera to the new computer and Vista?

I can view images on the LCD panel now, but when the memory fills up that's the end of that.
I hate to think about scrapping a perfectly good camera just because it won't work with a new OS. Isn't that what you call "planned obselescense?

Try this:

Uninstall the driver (if installed). Next, put in the driver CD and browse to the setup.exe file. Right click and select properties. In the box that opens, select compatibilty tab and select the box next to "runthis program in compatibilty mode for" and select XP SP2. and install the program

Should that not work, uninstall and retry the above process, but select Windows 98 or 2000 this time..Hopefully that will work.

If it still does not work, then unfortunately, you will either have to downgrade to XP (I believe the driver works for XP) or buy a new camera altogether..

There is most likely no way to get this camera to work on vista at this time, or it would be very difficult.

The camera may work on a windows XP system.

If you still want to use this camera, you will have to buy an older computer with an older operating system which will be pretty cheap now. Basically drivers are made for a set number of Operating Systems and since Vista doesn't support many newer products, it isn't going to support yours. If anything, try using it on a computer with XP or someone would probably be willing to give you a computer with an older OS for free. I even have some older OS on our older computers and it usually costs money to get rid of them so if you post an ad on Craigslist for the want of a free computer with an OS that works, I'm sure someone will be able to give you one for free. Let me know if you have any other questions and good luck

Chances are old products are not supported by new OS, when you plug camera in if there is no resident driver that will automatically install the device it means that its not compatible with Operating system, it may be compatible but the software for it since its discontinued might not work on it when you install it. you can try to view photos from image viewer or when vista recognizes your camera. Thanks for using Fixya!!

I understand your concern regarding on it but its actually beyond our capacity already, one thing that you can try is to buy an adapter for your card that you can connect to Vista computer and transfer the photos from the card to computer instead. Technology grows fast and some company can't keep up with it. that's how it goes, frustrating but we cant do anything bout it though.

I am afraid you won't be able to use the camera on Vista

It is already difficult to find Vista drivers for devices built before 2003, unless they are already included with Vista. Your camera had been built in the nineties, and is not in Windows Vista compatibility list, I don't think you will find a driver working on Vista.
Unfortunately, as any other Vista user, you will have to update some old software and devices.

    Regards

To Whom It May Concern: I am looking to update my drivers for the VuPoint DC-C313C2-VP for Windows Vista 64. Are there any that I can download as the driver that came with the camera does not work....

You can try this one:
ftp://vps:vps@66.185.19.4/Drivers/DC-C313C-VP-driver.zip

Whether that works or not, you might want to consider NOT using a driver at all.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Where can i get the innovage mini digital camera driver

This driver was reported to be working perfectly on Windows XP.

Note that on Vista, Windows should AUTOMATICALLY install the camera drivers. If not - just run Windows Update!

Good luck,

Ibought this camera and it didn't have the driver info in the box. I bought it from fingerhut. These people are imposible. the camera without drivers is no good

According to your camera's manual, no driver is necessary unless your computer is running Windows 98SE. No driver is required with Windows 2000, ME, or XP (Plug and Play). The manual is dated 2005, so it makes no mention of Vista or Windows 7, so compatibility with the newer systems is an unknown. If you're running Vista or 7 I suggest that you use the link below to contact the camera manufacturer for clarification and possibly to obtain a software disk.

Can I use the PDC 700 with Windows Me?

The PDC 700 camera TWAIN driver is not 100% compatible with Windows Me because it does not support USB downloads. No new driver software is available from Polaroid -- however, a compatible TWAIN driver is available from a third-party source. The Pretec DC-800 is the functional equivalent of Polaroid's PDC 700. Pretec's DC-800 Setup Disk for Windows 95/98/ME/2000 is available for download at its online Driver Download Center. Testing done by Polaroid has shown that this driver works with the PDC 700 using the listed operating systems, including Windows Me. When accessing the camera with image editing software compatible with the computer's operating system, the camera driver appears as Digital Camera 1024X768 Driver.
