My onkyo HT RC330 will not power up at all. Have had problems past couple of months with starting it but if you played around with swith it would start. Now nothing.

Try resetting the AV receiver To reset the AV receiver to its factory defaults, turn it on and, while holding down VCR/DVR, press 8 ON/STANDBY. "Clear" will appear on the display and the AV receiver will enter Standby mode.

It is possible that the protection circuitry has been activated. Remove the power cord from the wall.. Disconnect all speaker cables and input sources, and then leave the AV receiver with its power cord disconnected for 1 hour. After that, reconnect only the power cord and set the volume to maximum. If the AV receiver stays on, set then the volume to minimum, disconnect the power cord, and reconnect your speakers and input sources. If the AV receiver turns off when you set the volume to maximum, disconnect the power cord, and contact your dealer.

If the standby light is lit it and the unit will not boot it is most likely that the protection circuit has been activated. If there is no standby light then check the fuses. These units check that the power supplies are operating near specification. If a capacitor or resistor in the circuit, or a broken solder connection the unit will shut down. Because of the temperature the thermal cycling around the power supplies a broken solder joint can occur. This will make for an intermittent operation.

Hope this helps.

Button standby

The receiver is in protect mode, most likely due to a damaged amplifier. This protect mode, keeps the unit from turning on and causing further damage to itself and/or your speaker system. For more information, please visit my website at audioserviceclinic.com. Thank you.

If the cable is really old try getting a new one. I would recommend either a monoprice cable or a mediabridge cable both are as high quality and much cheaper than a monster.

My Onkyo TX-SR700 AV Receiver shuts off about 10 seconds after I turn it on ?

Please remove speaker wires from receiver and turn it ON, if receiver still goes to standby that means it got problem in amplifier output section and protection circuit gets activate to turn it off.
If removing speakers solve turn-off problem that shows any of speaker is bad, connect speakers one by one to find out what speaker causing protection circuit activation.
And if receiver has problem with internal circuit, a tech would be fine to diagnose that kind of problem because it is not user level repair as it requires testing voltages in output circuit of receiver and also requires soldering work to replace defective parts.
Thanks.

My (Techwood 400 Watt Home Theater Receiver PLR85) won't turn on

I have had the same problem.

You have a faulty cooling fan.

The system senses the fan isn't working, and knows that without it, it will over-heat. So it goes into a "self-protect" mode - hence the green light.

You need to replace whatever part of your fan has gone bad.
