What happens if you have the key in the run position, you foot on the brake and you wiggle, pull, push the turn signal lever. Also try turning the hazards on and off slowly. All while keeping an eye on the brake lights to see if they come on momentarily.

I'm pretty sure the brake and turn signal share the same bulb If so we know that the bulb and the wiring from the switch to the bulb is fine. If there is power into and out of the brake switch than it is reasonable to assume that the problem is in between the brake switch and the turn signal switch if not the switch itself.

Fix brake lights on a 2000 gmc jimmy

seen this often on different models .look up under the bumper drivers side .you will see a hole in the fender panel the wires to the brake lights and tail lights run through here . grab the wires and you will probley see the green and or the brown wire is rotton and perhaps broken or the insulation is cracked and corroded .you will have to cut the wire clean it up and put a new connector and use shrink tube to protect the connection from getting wet .

2001 GMC Jimmy break lights not working but all

Check the brake light switch should be a orange wire with 12v then a white wire with 12v when the pedal is pressed. If htat cks good then ck the hazard switch by moving it up and down and wiggeling the knob with the brake pedal pressed if they start working then your multifunction switch is bad and needs to be replaced.

My tail lights on a 1992 gmc jimmy just stopped working? anyone know why?

first check your fuses, then check the bulbs, then check the ground wires at the lights, then check the wires coming out of the switch with a light prob to see if switching the lights on and off affects the current in the wires coming out of the switch.
