Question about Samson G-TRACK USB RECORDING MICROPHONE Microphone

Samson G-Track recording volume issue

I have a Samson G-Track Condenser Microphone/USB Interface and am running Windows XP.
I have found that the recording volume of the microphone is very low and when selecting the device in the system tray or on the sound and audio options tab I can change the output volume of the sound from the microphone but not the input recording volume. I have tried on three computers and still the microphone records incredibly quietly unless I turn the volume on the device right up, causing interference/distortion. As I record acoustic music it is near impossible to record properly as it is either too quiet or too distorted
I would appreciate any help you could offer
Thanks. Steve.

Sorry I accidentally rated the solution. I still haven't solved the issue. It's been a problem since I got the MIC but Samson keep telling me I should be able to change the recording volume through the volume options in the system tray

Most of the time, you’ll want the output volume from the computer at the maximum position, but sometimes it defaults to the middle of the slider, making the output very quiet. The volume can be increased in several ways. The simplest is to click the loudspeaker icon in the system tray and drag the slider to the top If the icon is not there, the volume can be changed by going to Control Panel and opening Sounds and Audio Devices To use the G Track as your default input/output device (for system
sounds and programs like Sound Recorder), ensure that it is set for playback and recording in the Audio tab The volume can then be set by pressing the Volume button

These devices just aren't so great I think. You need to move the music closer to the microphone if you can. Also try using Audio Editor which has a great feature of increasing the recording volume up to 600%

Let me know how this works out for you

when you go to control panel on your computer and check on audio and
sound devices, is it already set to USB audio CODEC for the default
device? did you follow the setup guide or check it? click this for the manual.

Try using a computer with a dedicated sound card, not an onboard sound chip. A condenser mike can't provide very much power on its own, and requires power from the attached receiver/amplifier.

Samson g track windows 7

It works fine in Windows 7 except that there's a bug in Windows 7 that adds lots of noise to the mic. It's easy to work around, though: Go into Recording devices, Properties button, Levels tab, right click on the level number so that it shows in decibels, and then adjust the level to 0 dB. It's supposed to be at 0 dB but Windows 7 defaults it to 30 dB for no reason. This isn't a problem on Windows XP.

It's supposed to only record on the left side. When it's in "INST/MIC" mode the left channel has your mic on it and the right channel has your instrument, so you can mix them separately. Just configure your recording software to put the left channel on one track and the right channel on another track.
