If the set powers off after coming ON for some time, then it is possible that there can be the following problems. http://www.solder.net/technical/tips.asp The advice/tip given is with the belief that you are competent. You must attempt to do it yourself only if you are technically/logically able, especially when dealing with delicate devices, damaging while trying to open, Probing electrical/electronic circuits with high voltage or delicate components. Since the advice given by me is with the inputs provided and not based on a visual inspection, there can be further reviews required in some cases.
So check these tips.
1. When the set switches off , tap on the power board and main boards, if the set power back now, then the fault can be poor soldering on the power supply or main board.
2. If you notice that the TV cuts off when a particular section heat up( you must check this with the set switched off, touching the different sections) , if so force cool this section and see if the set switches back. Alternatively you can simulate the heating or cooling using a hair dryer or a freeze it spray, so that the particular suspected area can be found.
3. when the fault occurs, check the voltages on the main board, the power supply , check the rail and + B voltages, particularly to the driver sections.Only a good trace of the missing voltage will lead you to the fault. So take the tip from a missing voltage on shut down.
Finally solder all IC pins, power drivers pins and connectors.check this link for soldering tips:
