Question about Apple iPod touch

1 Answer

THe screen wel, i have had my ipod touch since christmas and for about 2 months there has been a problem with the screen. On the screen all the touches work and it isnt broken but there are these lines across it at the bottom and recently have appeared in the middle, they are like grey lines and they start of as very thin lines but then gradually get thicker and thicker, because at the bottom i cnt even see where it says "music" etc.... I listen to my ipod when i go to bed because it help me sleep and then i think that they may have appeared because when i lean on it and it is touch sensitive and in the booklet you get with it, it says to not put pressure on it and i am worried if thats the problem. can you help me please xxx

I'm having the same issue from my Touch 32GB bought in January 2008 (or about). It just started (June 15) adding grey pixels from the lowest part of the screen from one side to the other. I can sometime see the pixels being added, otherwise I'm not at my fourth line (so about 1 a day).

I'm not so clear as to how to contact Apple about this. This has been purchased from Apple online and we don't yet have an apple store in Montreal QC.

I have the same problem on my ipod classic. having looked everywhere, there is no "simple" solution to the problem. in order to completely remove these gray lines, you must send it in to apple but the price of repair is basically the same as buying a new one. ive been looking into screen repairs by some random companies but they seem to be fixing only the screen, NOT the actual gray lines on the screen.

My daughters ipod touch has a locked icon on th top in the middle of the screen and I can not slide the bar, what has happended & how do I fix it? This is a second hand 8gb ipod touch that was working...

I have had a similar problem that you listed before.
What your daughter's iPod is experiencing is a broken touch sensor on the screen. She must have either dropped it, or accidentally smacked it into something hard. This will cause the touch sensor to break.
There are only two options left to resolve the problem: 1. Go to the Apple Store and pay them a fee to fix the device.
2. If you are looking to buy a new iPod, give the Apple Store your old one and they will give you 10% off.

I got a new ipod 8GB for Christmas. It is frozen and I have tried pressing top button with start button simultaneously. The battery comes up then the slide arrow that says slide to unlock but arrow won't...

You may need a new touch screen as yours seems to be messed up in some way. Try pressing the home button twice when the slide to unlock screen comes up. Hope this helps!

Have you tried restoring using DFU mode?

Here is a great step by step guide to do that. http://iphonefreakz.com/beginners-guide/howto-dfu-mode/

it says iphone, but it is basically the same for the ipod touch.

I hope this helps,

Nathan.
