For most dryers,
Go buy HiTemperature silicone adhesive (tube)
tools required couple pairs locking pliers/visegrips screwdrivers

Unplug dryer
remove the front cover, either

  • couple screws at the bottom and spring clips to pop off with a screw driver OR
  • couple of spring clips to hold the top lid on, then screws top and bottom of both sides

examine the case to find the exact mounting
unclip cables from door switch
set front panel aside
unhook drive belt from tensioner pulley
pull drum forward and out

remove old felt
scrape off old adhesive
put adhesive per instructions (some 2 surfaces some 1) on drum/felt
clip felt in place on drum with visegrip at 1 point
stretch felt around drum, gluing and clipping in place with vicegrips as you go
allow glue to set

reassemble in reverse order

wow took longer to type than it actually takes to do it

A friend asked my to look at his bike. He blew it up and replaced piston... ran for 5 weeks and blew again. Got another piston and ring and it had NO compression . Long story short.. I ordered a NEW...

Hi,,ok that is a lot of wasted money spent,,the power valve plays little role in compression,,the FIRST thing to do is remove the flywheel and check the crank seal,,the compression has to be going somewhere,,,and the stator side crank seal is almost allways to blame(blows engines real fast,,sucks air, motor runs lean and bang!)

good luck

Has a smell of burnig oil after driving for just a short time, heads, timing belt and spark plugs are all new... can you help me????

Do you have any evidence of oil leaks?

These engines are notorious for leaking oil, both the V6 and the 4 cylinder.

On the V6 the rear valve cover gasket and cam seals are both regular leaks, and typically last about 60k miles each before leaking again.

On 4 cylinders the distributor o-ring or distributor plug for DIS models is a heavy leaker as well.

I understand you have a lot of new parts, but some of these things are known to fail on installation when done by someone not extensively familiar with the product. If you need further assistance, please ask and I will do by best to assist you.

Thanks for using Fixya

You probably need to thread the new belt over the drum by removing the circular rubber front seal temporarily. After putting the seal back on, ease the belt into the correct position and thread over the pulley on the motor. You will probably find it easier to put it over the pulley wheel of the motor first, with the belt partially off the drum. Then rotate the drum manually whilst easing the belt over it.

Amana Dryer belt instalation

Remove the power to the unit and the bottom access panel. Remove the front bulkhhead where the drum sits on by undoing four screws one for each corner.Verify felt seal on exhaust fan cover is airtight on flange of duct. If seal is installed improperly air flow will be restricted which can cause poor dryer performance.Belt must be positioned around cylinder between center and rear bafflescrews with the ribbed surface against the cylinder. You gotta push up on the spring loaded idler pulley the easily slip on the belt to the motor shaft. make sure that the ribbed part of the belt wraps around the drum and motor shaft and not kinked.
