For most dryers,
Go buy HiTemperature silicone adhesive (tube)
tools required couple pairs locking pliers/visegrips screwdrivers

Unplug dryer
remove the front cover, either

  • couple screws at the bottom and spring clips to pop off with a screw driver OR
  • couple of spring clips to hold the top lid on, then screws top and bottom of both sides

examine the case to find the exact mounting
unclip cables from door switch
set front panel aside
unhook drive belt from tensioner pulley
pull drum forward and out

remove old felt
scrape off old adhesive
put adhesive per instructions (some 2 surfaces some 1) on drum/felt
clip felt in place on drum with visegrip at 1 point
stretch felt around drum, gluing and clipping in place with vicegrips as you go
allow glue to set

reassemble in reverse order

wow took longer to type than it actually takes to do it

The wires on the door switch of my Amana dryer disconnected when I was replacing the drum belt. There are three wires: red, gray, and black. I thought the order was red on top, gray in the middle, and...

MUST GIVE YOU MY DISCLAIMER - MAKE SURE THE APPLIANCE IS DISCONNECTED FROM ELECTRICAL POWER BEFORE DOING ANY SERVICE.
There - you got the drum belt around the idler pulley, well done! That's tricky to master!
The switch serves 2 purposes - turn on the light or tell the dryer the door is closed. Either the switch got damaged or the wires are in the wrong place. Usually the length and the way they bend is a clue as to where they go, but colors change. I don't think Whirlpool makes Amana (as they do everyone else) or the wires would be gray, yellow and brown. Does the light work? That's a clue, but the web site I use for information is down for maintenance until morning. Can you read a schematic? If so, up inside the control panel should be the information you need, taped in a plastic bag I would hope. If so, please put it back when you're done - technicians expect it to be there! Just message back "no luck" if you were not successful.
PS - I just thought of a "duh" check - make sure the switch clicks as you press the lever.

MY DRYER NO LONGER PUTS OUT HEAT. IT IS A KENMORE MODEL 110.62952100 SN ML 1807275 ANY CLUE HOW OLD IT IS....AM I BETTER OFF BUYING A NEW ONE, OR SERVICING THIS ONE?

Electric Dyer approximately 10-12 years old. Most likely needs a new heater coil, or could be frayed wires.
Can be serviced. But if you want a new one... that is up to you. But it may be cheaper to fix it as long as you hire someone honest

HOW DO I ?

You probably need to thread the new belt over the drum by removing the circular rubber front seal temporarily. After putting the seal back on, ease the belt into the correct position and thread over the pulley on the motor. You will probably find it easier to put it over the pulley wheel of the motor first, with the belt partially off the drum. Then rotate the drum manually whilst easing the belt over it.

Amana Dryer belt instalation

Remove the power to the unit and the bottom access panel. Remove the front bulkhhead where the drum sits on by undoing four screws one for each corner.Verify felt seal on exhaust fan cover is airtight on flange of duct. If seal is installed improperly air flow will be restricted which can cause poor dryer performance.Belt must be positioned around cylinder between center and rear bafflescrews with the ribbed surface against the cylinder. You gotta push up on the spring loaded idler pulley the easily slip on the belt to the motor shaft. make sure that the ribbed part of the belt wraps around the drum and motor shaft and not kinked.
