The keyboard must be dirty or bad. If it is new take it back and exchange it for another one.

I can't fix this for you, but if I helped you get it fixed, please rate it as a fixya not a helpful rating. These ratings let me be allowed to help you and others in the future.

If you want to keep it and not take it back, you can clean it. Take the screws out of it and wipe it down. There is only a small part of the keyboard the can not get wet. This is very easy to clean.
Did you try what I told you to do? I will still help you, but you need to tell me what you have done.

MY DELL PC BEEPS 6 TIME, SHOW AND KEYBOARD ERROR AND DISPLAY A ORANGE LED AT THE MOTHER BOARD

The Dell user manual has the beep codes, which usually are in sequences with short pauses between. To figure out the problem one needs to know the spacing of the codes. Is it 1-2-3, or 2-2-2, or 3-1-2 or what? The first thing I would check is the RAM - make sure it is seated correctly, and try removing all but one stick.

You cleaned the rubber under the buttons and the buttons too? All you do is put the metal bars straight down then angle it about 10 degree towards you then put it in like a regular key, but if you lost the wire then.... might need to get a new one, heh.

My acer laptop keys are sticking and to hard to push down. I need to replace them how do I do that?

no they don't need replacing they just need cleaning, you can remove the panel that goes accross the top of the keyboard (above the F keys) if you remove this panel you can remove the keyboard too, it is connect to the laptop with a ribbon cable that you can remove. when the keyboard is free all you have to do is run it under warm water (not hot) and clean the keys gently with washing up liqiud that you use for the dishes, keep on running warm water on it until the keys are free (you may have to repeat this process if the sticking persists) Now for the important part, you have to leave the keyboard to dry for at least 24-48 hours in a warm dry room before you can put it back in, press on the keys periodically to make sure they are free

THe keyboard has gone beserk... the up and down keys keep pressinf themselves.. also sometimes some keys just stop working... please help

your problem may have different causes:

1. if your keyboard is old, you may want to spend either money, on a new keyboard, or time, cleaning your keyboard as you may have some kung underneith causing the keys to stick.

2. do try another key board and see if that corrects the issue (get rid of the current problem keyboard). try the keyboard on another computer and see it works fine. if it does your problem may be with the connector on the motherboard, you may have to get usb keyboard or you may have to replaced your motherboard.

3. if your keyboard is a special new keyboard you may have to look for updated drivers for it instead of using the drivers that come with the operating system.. look into the keyboard manufacturer's website for updated drivers..

4. go to control pannel> keyboards and look into the hardware tab and look for properties, make sure the status of the device is "working properly" if not reinstall or updated drivers.

5. check your possible bios updates: if your keyboard is a ps/2 (mini 6 pin din). look for for updates for your bios on motherboard manufacturer website.

post more details of your device and issues and we'll try to help.

The keys on my keyboard keep sticking

I think the keys are more or less worn and you may have to purchase a new keyboard. One other thing you can do is to use a fine screwdriver and scrape away any dirt or debris that may be around the keys and use a can of compressed air to blow away the scraped of debris. If this does not work, the best alternative would be to buy a new keyboard. There are tons of cheap keyboards on the market and you can find some for under $20.

Added a memory stick to my Dell 2400 Desktop computer and the monitor, mouse, & keyboard won't work

Hi

The supported Memory types for Dimension 2400 Series is PC2100 (266-MHz) or PC2700 (333-MHz) DDR SDRAM (non-ECC). Supported Memory capacities are 128, 256, or 512MB and a Max if 1GB (1024MB).

The first obvious question is does the new 512MB Memory module meet the above specification? Some Memory modules are able to steep down speed.

If it does, then first ensure the new memory module is properly installed. Take ESD (ElectroStatic Discharge) precautions or you may damage the new memory module and/or the system board.

To proceed compare the system beeps and diagnostics lights color and sequence to the Advanced Troubleshooting guide.

It is possible that the new memory is DOA (Dead On Arrival). Or there is a new fault on the system. If you have access to another compatible system, you may test the new and old memory modules. You may also swap the new and old memory modules to determine if the memory slot is at fault.

Lastly, if you remove the new memory module, does the system complete POST (Power On Self Test)?. If it does you may indeed have a DOA or incompatible part.

Keyboard and caps lock

Hi,
Due to the fact that the two keys are both together, i,d say that theres some muck under the keypad, thats sticking the 2 keys together. Try blowing air into the keyboard. Or put a vacuum cleaner on the keypad.
Don,t hold me responsible if the Vac, sucks the keys or Keyboard Up :)
