It sounds to me like the motor coupling is bad-the humming sound is the motor running not hooked up-sears has a good sight for looking up the part you need cheers-Denny

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

Are you sure that you plugged the Lid Switch back in when you put the cabinet back on??

If the switch is connected, I'd also pull the cabinet again and make sure that the Motor coupler is installed correctly. If it isn't, it could be broken again and the washer wouldn't agitate or spin.

Are you sure you connected the motor?

THIS IS A TYPICLE PROBLEM . BETWEEN THE MOTOR & THE TRANSMISSION THERE IS A COLLECTOR ASSEMBY (THREE PIECE
SET) REAL EASY TO GET TOO EASY TO FIX . ALSO COST EFFICENT

The adjitator transmission is probably shot ;o(

make sure your pump is not clogged or jammed..that will stop the motor,,quick test,,pull pump off and start unit in wash,,or spin if unit is empty..onthejob

• Check that the water supply valves are turned on
• Inspect the filter screens
• Test for overheating
• Inspect the water pump
• Test the water inlet valve.
  
• Test the motor

There is three things on this machine that concern me. Last week I rebuilt a series 80 and it did the same thing, mostly on perm press. It turned out the timer was fine and the mechanical had not been rebuilt in years. Because of this the motor could not spin fast enough to fling the water plus the pump was leaking. I need three things from you. Is leaking water and oil when looking under the machine, does the motor hum loud even when functioning normally and when its spinning lift the lid, is it still rotating after a quick count to 7? you may find that the motor is not going because of faulty capacitor or faulty timer
remove the motor from machine and try running with no loadif it works them maybe the pump is jammed or worse still gearbox is faulty

Hi I have a kenmore that is moving when it spins....some water left when spin is completed. We recently moved the machine to clearn behind it and this issue started. movement is about an inch per cycle.....can you help? thankse ,pde 22422
