Question about Weather King Air Conditioners

1 Answer

Warranty Our air conditioner is not working and a service tech just came out and told us we are out of freon. He says we have a slow leak and it has probably been leaking since it was installed and not one knew. It is leaking at the furnace coil. How long does warranty last for this part?

At is different than In. (AT) would be where the lines connect to the coil from the outside of the air handler (Repairable). Oil would show at the point of the leak. If the leak is IN the coil then in most cases the coil would have to be replaced. Coils are normally covered under the first years warranty.

WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THE FRIEDRICH SH15L30-B UNIT CAN BE RE-GASSED, AIR CON UNIT IS NOT COOLING DOWN ROOM, FAN AND COMPRESSOR SEEM TO BE WORKING, BUT HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT ITS A SEALED UNIT AND NEED TO BUY...

It is true that it is a sealed unit and should never need charged with freon unless a leak has developed. Most service techs will tell you that they cannot be recharged because you do have to break into the sealed system with a solder in valve or a line tap. They hold such a small amount of freon that finding and fixing the leak can be next to impossible and time consuming. Make sure that the inside and outside coils are clean. The outside fins can be brushed with a semi-soft brush like a toilet brush and then washed out with water. Make sure your power is off first. If the coils are dirty it will act just like it does if the refrigerant is low. 75 to 80 percent of air conditioner service calls are solved by cleaning the outside condenser coil. Brush up and down and do not put so much water pressure on it that the cooling fins start bending.

My Jayco is 9 years old. Now thw a/c blows hot sometimes and cold. More hot. Could it have loss freon. Can it be recharged

It could be freon but if it is it has developed a leak somewhere. Chances are, it just needs a good cleaning. Unless you are in an area where service is unreasonably high, it would be worth having a tech check it out.

Fedders air conditioning model a3t12f2ag , my unit runs fine but it will not blow cool air?

you either have internal thermostat problems, selector switch problems or youve got a freon leak. to determine a freon leak is the units coil freezing up or is it dirty check filter first take unit out and to car wash remove housing and give it a bath dont plug it back in until its dry.hope this fix works if not work your switches remember they set in one position most all the time if freon call a tech

I need t recharge the freon. It takes R22. Where do I charge this system? I pulled the roof cap off and cannot find and caps to recharge the system

AC's routinely are sold/installed without charging valves.

So, unless your unit has been worked on/serviced in the past it will not have any place to charge with freon.

Note: unless you've developed a 'leak,' it is unlikely that you've lost any freon, and in the event that you have - it will take a Service Tech to install valves and charge your unit correctly.

I would call a Service Tech to assist.

hope this helps.

Domedic duotherm 13.5, comp runs but no cool. looked at unit to find schrader valve... not there. does piercing tool work for adding freon. all else appears on good condx. I think it just needs gas. does...

if compressor is comin on an you r sure then you are low on freon, there is not a port to put freon in you would have purchase a tap valve on the bigger line then apply freon to it ,thats located inside of the system

Home air conditioner not cooling but service agent tells us need gas filling, is it correct

Hi, if you had a certified company tech, or contractor come out and check this unit with his gauges, he would know if it has lost its charge. Most window units have no service valves on them to check the freon gas. He may have installed a bullet piercing valve to check the freon. I would have to agree with him. To be sure, I would have to make the checks myself. This says you have a leak in the system somewhere. That would need to be checked and found also. If it was a service tech you called and want to get it fixed, I would use the same guy.
Sincerely,

Yes. if that expansion valve was improperly adjusted would flood the compressor with liquid freon washing out the oil causing compressor failure. Tom

Air conditioner stops blowing ,can fill the air faintly. Had it looked at once tech beneath glove box started blowing a year ago happening again help. Chris from Mansfield Texas

sounds like the coil in the dash is freezing up or is somehow blocked, if its happening again over a period of time you probably have a slow freon leak causing the eventual freeze-up. you should isolate the leak and have it repaired and then recharge the system.

I have heard that there is a spray you can use that will not damage your system and seals the leak when it comes in contact with oxygen

AC WON'T COOL

Sounds like you have a freon leak or your compressor has stopped working. You will probably need a service tech. If it is out of freon, don't let them just add more freon, make them find and repair the leak first. Good Luck.
