What is the model of your printer?

You can download the installation software for your Officejet 5500 series printer directly from HP.

Just select your operating system, and it will take you to the correct download.

Verify the model of your printer first, as well. There are actually several models in the 5500 line. The above link is the the most common- the Officejet 5505. If yours is a different model in the 5500 line, type the model number into the Product Search box at the top of the page.

Try un-installing your 8500 related software, re-boot and re-install from disk.
If you don't have the installation disk go to:-

HI there follow this. First install the Driver of the PC from driver disk. Then install the all in one software. After installation of the software the scanner will be detected by the PC. Just do it and let me know the result. During all this don;t take out the Driver disk ok.

Keeps saying "scanner failure" What do I do?

Scanners are a real legacy issue within windows - they have been there forever and yet the software controlling them hasn't been improved on - TWAIN it is the name of the Toolkit which communicates with your scanner and the proprietary software sits on top of that. TWAIN stands for "Toolkit Without An Interesting Name" - I think says it all. It hasn't been improved on much through the various releases of Windows. But to help you more we would need a lot more information.

- Platform Windows 7 .... Mac ...
- Scanner name and manufacturer
- Type of connection to the scanner ( USB ¦ WIRELESS )
- Whether you have had the scanner working in the past on this machine.
- Does the scanner work on another machine - Do you have another machine on which to try the scanner.
- Do you have the original disks for the scanner. And the original Windows Disk - so that you can load up the TWAIN software.
- How did you install the software for the scanner
- Have you come across this TWAIN driver ( perhaps you haven't installed that - because the Manufacturer's software doesn't include the TWAIN driver ( you have to load that from your Windows disk )

If you haven't loaded the TWAIN software - then perhaps - you should de-install the Manufacturers software and then install the TWAIN driver from the disk ( although - it may already be resident in the bowls of the Windows environment on the machine ) and then finally re-install the Manufacturer's software ...

So more questions than answers - but I hope that helps ....

Do i need more than just the drivers installed in order for the scanner to work? ie. Do I need the kodak software?

You will need the install disk to have your copier, scanner, etc to work properly\
You can contact the manufacturer for the installation disk or re install using the disk provided with the unit.
this should restore the scanner operation if you have lost that function.
2. check the user's manual for specific instruction on the scanner usage.

Scanner will not work but I can print and copy from the all in one. How do I make the scanner work, Do I need to load any software for it to work?

usually, the all in ones come with a disk that contains a program you need to install for it to scan. if you dont have the disk, you can find it on the hp website, just search for your model number on there, and then download the right software and that should fix your problem.

hope that helps.

Scanner not working need software install

hi friend,

u can download software in
www.econtentos.com/scanner-driver.htm

Installing a scanner on newer PCs is pretty straight-forward. If the scanner is a USB device, you'll need to install the software CD that came with the scanner. These will normally be one or two disks and a few others that usually only prove to be trial software or other programs you do not need. Be wary of installing these third-party CDs, as you likely will never use them and they tend to want to take over the way media is handled on your computer.

First, unpack the scanner from the box. Make sure you have all of the attachments and especially the quick setup instructions if they were in the box. You can assemble the scanner and set if off to the side. You can plug the power cable in, but do not plug the USB cable into the computer.
Boot up the computer and load the scanner software disk into the CD ROM drive. If it does not launch automatically, you can navigate to it through My Computer and click the setup.exe file. If there are additional disks for your scanner that need to be loaded, you will be prompted for them.
Once the software has been installed, you can then attach the USB cable to the computer. Windows should find the new scanner and load the drivers for it automatically.
Troubleshooting Scanner Problems:

If your scanner had worked in the past but has stopped functioning, you can usually unplug the scanner, then go to Add / Remove Programs in the Control Panel and remove the scanning software. Then you can repeat the installation process above.

thank u for using fixya

regards,
