Hi,

Go in to control panel and click security center, in there you will see a heading saying "Manage Security Settings For:", click on Automatic Updates, now you have 4 options, click on Automatic and then click appy.

Now set for Automatic Updates.

Cheers

Disable Automatic Reboot after Windows Update

Have you seen the message
"Automatic Updates
Updating your computer is almost complete. You must restart your computer for the updates to take effect.
Do you want to restart your computer now?"
Automatic Windows updates are very good for computer security. However, when these Windows updates are downloaded and installed on your computer, if the updates require a reboot of your computer, Windows keeps prompting you to reboot your computer.

Now, Windows XP Pro users can disable automatic reboot of the computer after a Windows Update. In order to do that, follow these steps

Disable Automatic Reboot after Windows Update for Windows XP Pro usersWith this setting you will be able to specify that after a scheduled Windows update, Automatic updates will wait for the computer to be restarted by any user who is logged on, instead of causing the computer to restart automatically. If this setting is not enabled or not configured, your computer will prompt you every 5 minutes to restart the computer to complete the installation.

1. Press <Windows Key> + R which will launch the Run command. Type gpedit.msc and press Enter
2. Group Policy Editor will now be launched
3. On the left hand pane, under Local Computer Policy, click on the (+) sign next to Computer Configuration
4. Click on the (+) sign next to Administrative Templates. Then click on (+) next to Windows Components and then click on Windows Update
5. Double click on No auto-restart for scheduled Automatic Updates installations. A settings window will now open. In there, select Enabled and then press OK

6. Close the Group Policy Editor
Disable Automatic Reboot after Windows Update for Windows XP Home usersThe settings are a bit different for Windows XP Home users because there is no group policy configuration for Windows XP Home.
1. Press <Windows Key> + R and type in regedit. Press Enter
2. Navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SoftwarePolicies MicrosoftWindows WindowsUpdateAU
3. Change the "NoAutoRebootWithLoggedOnUsers" DWord value to 1 to Disallow auto reboot.
4. Press OK

Windows Update

Microsoft Windows normally automatically updates your operating system and accessory components. While these system updates are useful, sometimes it can help to customize aspects of the update process. Microsoft Windows offers many customization options, including the delay and disabling of automatic updates.

Open the Microsoft Windows Update directory in the Control Panel. This directory controls the Windows Update settings. Click on "Let me choose my settings" in the Turn on automatic updating box. This will allow you to set different customization options for automatic updates. Set your Important updates settings to "Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them" in order to be prompted in the future. When Windows needs to update, you will be prompted to select the update components you want to download and install and deselect the updates you want to disable. Hope this helps.

Hi!! How are u? My english not good that much but i will try to explain my problem: when iam open my computerwhich work by windows xp sp3 i got massage the ip operator (3.0208.911.01) is not...

OK, sounds like the problem is that the computer cannot get a valid IP address. In fact it sounds like you might have a IP address conflict on your network. Each IP address on a network segment must be unique.

Check if you are using DHCP.

  • Go to
  • Control Panel
  • Network connections
  • Locate the network connection you are using e.g. 'Local area connection' or perhaps 'Wireless connection'
  • Right click on the relevant network connection
  • Select 'Properties'
  • Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
  • Select Properties
Is your machine set to "Obtain an IP address automatically" (DHCP) or "Use the following IP address".
If its "Use the following IP address" then make sure no other machines are also using this IP address. You can try setting to 'automatic' but if you do, make sure that you note all details first, so you can revert back to the settings you currently have if you need to.
if its "Obtain an IP address automatically" then make sure no other machines have been manually set.

With regards to the microsoft update, then your best bet is to only select a small number of updates at a time, until you determine which update(s) is causing the failure. Once you know which update is the problem then you can troubleshoot the specific update.

Hope this helps

Please take the time to rate this answer. Many Thanks Don.

How to remove genuine

Windows Genuine Activation is a component of any Windows OS build beginning with Windows XP. There is no need to remove it if you are using a legitimate copy of Windows. If you are not using one, you can procure one from Microsoft and stop using the pirated copy installed on the PC.
If you are using a Genuine copy of Windows with the correct license key entered into the activation component, you should consult Microsoft support for further assistance or post to their WGA forums.
Support information can be found via Microsoft.com

indows Genuine Advantage Notifications for Windows XP notifies you if a copy of Windows XP is not genuine. The notification messages only appear on computers that have failed the WGA validation process and that are running a copy of Windows XP that is not genuine. If you are running a validated, genuine copy of Windows XP, you will not receive notification messages.
