Question about Digital Cameras

My Nikon Coolpix L12 keeps saying "batteries exhausted" whenever i turn on the camera. I've tried putting in several different brand new batteries, but i keep getting the same result. What's the problem and how do I fix it?

Hey beaceordie,
I would try cleaning the battery contacts with an eraser and see if that helps. If that doesn't work I would have the camera looked at by an authorized service technician. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan

Blurry Photos & Batteries Exhausted

I may be able to help with the battery problem. Two suggestions: 1) With a WHITE eraser (preferably at the end of a pencil) rub the metal tabs in the camera that makes contact with the batteries. They may be slightly corroded. DON'T use a pink eraser. A fine sandpaper will also work, but is more difficult to work with inside a small space. 2) The metal tabs may be pushed in too far. You may need to pry them out with a small flat-head screw driver or needle nose pliers. Do so gently.

Exact same thing - fresh batteries but still says exhausted

I would understand more if you said more you havent told me whats wrong with the camera so i gave a poor response because i had to guess what was wrong with your camera.
To me it looks like your saying how come the battery goes flat on my camera and does the reserve battery have anything to do with this.

If you said something like everytime i turn the camera on i have to keep setting the time and date then i would have gave you a different response so please explain your problem in detail then i can assist you further.

without the relevent info it would be hard for anyone to guess what your trying to say.

let me know then i can assist you further ok

Battery Problem

ITS NOT THE BATTERIES -- check out the internet (google "nikon coolpix battery exhausted" and you'll see hundreds of people are experiencing this glitch. best fix i've found so far: remove batteries and memory card, then replace batteries and try again. Maybe firmware update works too, but this fix is not confirmed.

Battery Problem

These cameras have a internal battery that holds data for the camera to keep its settings. These batteries can be replaced but the camera has to be disassimboled to change it they should be able to be changed at a local camera shop pretty cheap.

I don't know if I have the very same problem with my old nikon Coolpix E44600. I may go through the pictures I have already taken but when I try to take a new one, just as I shoot I get the message the "battery exausted" message and the camera shut down.

Battery Problem

I just had this problem today myself, and looked everywhere online for a solution. I changed the batteries (to Panasonic), and it didn't help. But i tried different batteries (Energizers) and the camera started working again.
