If taking pics for a web site you want the camera at the lowest reolution possible-1-2 mexapixels to keep file small and easy to view on web-if you took pic already at higher quality only software can downsize and compress pics-600 x 480 pixels is about 1 megapixel

I have a Nikon coolpix 5700. Recently have taken a bunch of pictures that ended up having pink spots show up on the pictures. It does not matter what setting the camera is on or how the zoom is set it...

Your CCD sensor most likely has what is referred to as a "dead pixel" or "stuck pixel", which is a pixel in the sensor that is not functioning properly anymore. There is not much to do to get it fixed. If you have an image editing program such as photoshop, corel draw or gimp, it is very simple to clone or heal the pixel out.

I have nikon coolpix s9050 camera when i click picture.screen shows this card cannot be read

Try a different/new brand of card or take the card to any camera store and ask them to try to load the card into one of their cameras for you, it's an easy way to test the card. Many cheeper cards don't always work with all cameras.

I need to take pictures with my coolpix that are no less than 1600 x 1200 pixels and 18 dpi. Since I've lost my manual, how to I make sure of these settings. Thank you

With a 5 megapixel sensor this camera should be well above your requirements.
However, to be sure, take a few photos of different scenes and download them to your computer.
Most programs, such as Photoshop Elements ets will enable you to access the parameters you want. But, even Microsoft Office Picture Manager will tell you your pixel dimensions. Open the image filein MOPC, right click then click on Properties (if it is not already showing on the right of scree. You will find your pixel dimensions and file size and further down the vertical and horozontal dpi.

I NEED TO SHOOT PICTURES WITH a 600 pixel size on one side-what Image mode should I use?

The closest you'll come with this camera (and the smallest available) is the "TV screen" mode, which produces pictures that are 640 by 480. The next larger size is "PC screen" which produces pictures that are 1024 by 768.

Have photos taken with a Nikon CoolPix that have the wrong date on them. I need to remove the incorrect date and add the correct date stamp, can this be done with the software that came with the camera?

Not easily. Once the date stamp is on the picture, those pixels are the same as any other pixel. You can edit the photos using photo editing software, the same way you might replace one person's face with another's.

Coolpix 4300 needs driver & update for vista

You can download PictureProject software from this address: http://chsv-soft.nikon-image.com/jpn/software/win/S-P2____-175WU-JPNJP.exe

That is the only Nikon software that supports Vista since your camera is "outdated".

Here is a quote from Nikon site:

  • We had released a Windows Vista-compatible version of PictureProject, v1.7.5, for use with the models listed below, and all models that followed. PTP (models supporting the PTP protocol) and Mass storage USB transfer options can be used for camera connection. However, the camera's transfer button can not be used to transfer pictures over a PTP connection. Set the USB transfer option to Mass storage to enable the camera's transfer button.
Currently, the new Nikon Transfer and View NX will replace Picture Project as our new Image Transfer and Browser applications. These applications support the same Nikon products as Picture Project.
