You simply use a paper clip or pencil to push the reset button on the back. Pull the power plug, then replug in (while holding the button) for a good 30 seconds. It will erase your password and set it back to "admin" Also note, it will erase your configuration on the router. Please leave positive feed back for me.

log into your router (lynksy) there might not be a password. Then just go under "change password" in the menu.

SOURCE: says connected to linksys but can't get on internet

If you reset the router then you delete all the settings and now you are only connected to the local network.

To reset your settings enter the default IP into your bowser, probably 192.168.1.1

enter default username and password ; admin may be the default password.

Now you have to re-enter the PPPoE or DHCP depending on your ISP.

Hi, i have a problem in lynksis WRH54G. I have changed my network service provider a few days ago, starting that day i couldn't use my lynksis wireless router anymore. it looks like it's working properly...

You need to reconfigure your WAN settings of router to your new internet service provider settings.
Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router.
Click on WAN settings in general setup and set as your service provider settings. If you are still not able to access router with above ip then you need to RESET it for that press RESET button for 10 seconds it is in back side of router then all settings defaults..Then you can access it with above method. . Then click on wireless->wireless security->WEP security there is code password note down it or enter new password then save setting s and restart router. then you can connect wireless with new password. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

Have lynksys wireless router but is unsecure -

You can enable WEP on your router to make your wireless network secure.

To access the screen of the router, type the ip address of the router in the address bar of Internet explorer or Firefox. By default the ip address of the router is 192.168.1.1. If this doesn't work, go to the command prompt (Start -> run -> type cmd). Type ipconfig. Copy the default gateway.

It will prompt you for a user name and password. By default leave the user name blank and then type admin in the password field.

Once you are in the Linksys screen, go to the Wireless tab -> Wireless security.

For the security mode, select WEP.

WEP encryption: 64bits 10 hex digits.

On the Passphrase field, type a wireless password of your choice, then click Generate.

It will give you a key. You will need to copy the wireless network key because you will need to enter this key on your PS3 and laptop. Take note that this is also case sensitive.

Once you click save settings, it will disconnect all your wireless computers.

You will need to manually enter the wireless network key on all your wireless devices. Without the network key, other computers will not be able to connect to your network.

I hope this helps.

Please take a moment to leave a comment if you find this solution helpful. Your feedback is important and very much appreciated.

Unless you "Know" it, well you can't you can however reset the router back to it's "Default" password/logon... is admin There is a small hole & button at the rear of unit by the Ethernet jacks. Reset the router and logon again with default logon/password. You WILL have to reconfigure Router all again though.

I forgot my security password (ecryption key) of my WRT54GS. As a result I cannot login my laptop to the internet. Whay can I do next? I do have my original Lynksys CD but I use a IP phone connecting to...

You need to go into the wireless router settings, if you cannot see the encryption setting the you need to create a new encryption key and the configure the laptop's wireless card with the new encryption key so it can connect to the wireless router and Internet.

Securing my wireless

if you are talking about the wireless security, by default it's not enabled so you need to enable it by going to the router's setup page. here's how: open a web browser (e.g. internet explorer, firefox etc) then type http://192.168.1.1 on the address bar. it'll promt you for the username and password, leave the username blank and type admin (default password)on the password. you will then be prompted with the linksys page, go to the wireless tab then look for the wireless security subtab. there you can enable your wireless security.

hope this'll help you and just ask me if you have other concern

ciao!

Forgoten password in my lynksys router

If you're talking about the password for the router to access it setup page, the deafult password for it is admin just leave the user name blank, if it doesn't work the next thing that you need to do is to reset the router by pressing the reset button for 10 seconds and the router will be back to it default settings with default password admin..
But if you talking about the wireless security key or WEP/WPA key you can get that by accessing the router setup page and typing 192.168.1.1 on the addresss of the working computer then admin for the password, then if you already have that page just go to the wireless tab then there's a sub tab there that says wireless security that where you can get the wireelss key..
If all else fail better contact Linksys tech support this is the number 800-3267114 at nay time they are open..

Hope that helps......
