I also have a Nokia 6126, and this happened to mine, too. Did you drop it? I drop mine ALL the time but when mine did it, the keys lit up, the front screen lit up, but the main screen stayed black. I took it in, and my display was broken. I shipped it back to Nokia and it was apparently 'not fixed' because there was too much physical damage and water damage, but when I got it back, it worked. Go figure. It may work itself out; but you may wanna get it checked out to be safe.

Your phone's batteries are most probably worn out. Replace with new one. Ensure you purchase authentic ones from a genuine store and not the local ones. Otherwise, chances are that the problem may still persist.

It could be due to network problems as well - the few times I've experienced it, it has lasted for several days and then it has been fine after that.
if you mean that only the backlight is not working then this may have happened when you opened the handset you didnt place all correctly ... just open it again and near by screen there will be a pin or chip which must touch the board to get backlight ... so i think that might not be touching the board ... so open it and make it touch the board ... you will get the backlight...
your problem is minor one you can solve it by your self ... this has happened due so loose conntact inside ....
