Question about Refrigerators
I am having a problem with black stuff coming out of the ice dispenser ( the shoot where you put the glass). Does anyone know why this is or how I can clean it? Just rented the house, not sure how old the fridge is. The water side is fine. Thanks,.
I am having a similar problem. The black stuff is all over the inside--it's probably mold. Anybody out there with good advice?

I see this a lot with people who mainly used crushed ice. It will leave small pieces of ice behind and add up to a clogged situation. If you mainly used crushed ice you will need to run full cubes thru every so often to keep the chute clear. Another cause of this would be the flapper door on the dispenser doesn't close completely and warm air gets in and melts the ice in the bin so it clumps together and won't dispense. In this case you may need to replace the solenoid that shuts the door and/or the door. Let me know what you find.
