Unplug the Y main and see if the 7-blink stop and go to a green solid. If so replace the Y main.If not unplug the X main and do the same. Check the voltages on the PSU and make sure they are correct with the voltages as the panle says.

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

This is a error code more than likely a power issue. Check the power supply of the Philips web site for the error codes.

How to program a rca rcr451 remote

1. Manually turn on the component
you want the remote to control
(TV, VCR, DVD, satellite receiver
or cable box).
2. Locate the enclosed Code Lists.
Find the list for the component
you wish to program. Find your
component’s brand. You will see a
listing of four-digit codes for each
brand. If your brand isn’t listed,
use the Manual Code Search
method to program the remote
control. (Refer to page 6 for
Manual Code Search method.)
3. Press and hold the component key
(TV, VCR, DVD, SAT·CBL) you
wish to program. The LED
indicator light turns on and remains
on. If you release the component
key any time during the Direct
Code Entry procedure, the LED
indicator light blinks four times,
and the process is exited.
4. While holding down the component
key, consult the Code Lists for the
four-digit code that corresponds to
your component’s brand and use the
number keys (0-9) on the keypad to
enter it. While you are pressing the
numbers, the LED indicator
light turns off.
5. After the fourth number is entered,
the LED indicator light turns on. At
this time, release the component key.
If the LED indicator light turns off,
you have entered a valid code and
have followed the correct procedure
for Direct Code Entry.
If you enter a code number that is
not in the Code Lists or you do not
follow all of the steps for Direct
Code Entry, the LED indicator light
blinks four times when the
component key is released. This is an
indication that a programming error
has occurred. In that case, repeat the
Direct Code Entry process from step
3 and try the next code listed.
Throughout the programming
of each key, be sure to keep the remote
pointed at the IR sensor of the
component you are currently
programming the remote to control.
6. To confirm that the component key
is programmed with the correct
code for maximum functionality,
test the component. Attempt to
control a variety of the
component’s functions with the
remote. If some of the features of
your components do not work, try
programming the remote with a
different code in the list until you
find the code that allows the
remote to control the majority of
your component’s functions.
Different codes can provide
different levels of functionality.

42PFL5332D/37 does not turn on red light flashes 6 times.

Don't have a "solution" yet, but found this table that decodes the blinks:

Error Code Table

0 = No error
1 = X-ray protection, E/W protection, and/or Vertical protection active
2 = High beam current protection active
3 = Reserved
4 = +5V protection active
5 = Signal Processor (IC 7150) register corrupted
6 = Signal Processor (IC 7150) error
7 = Total failure
8 = Internal RAM error (Microprocessor IC 7000)
10 = NV memory (IC7088) addressing error
11 = NV memory (IC7088) size error
12 = Histogram (YUV) (IC 7770) error
14 = Sound processor I²C error (TDA9855)
16 = Main Tuner I²C error (IC 1125)
17 = PIP Processor I²C error (IC 7350)
18 = PIP Tuner I²C error (IC 1127)

I, too, have the 6 blinks of a red light. I found another person online that suggested that perhaps the power cord was "defective" as it's a common issue. I replaced the power cord with one from an old computer (they're the same cord) and it seems to be OK now. That's all I can offer you at this time.

Philips 42'' Plasma TV 42PF7320A/37 red led error codes

I had the Same issue. on a 50PF9431D/37 set. Many Plasma Set's use a LJ44-00118A PS-505-PH Power supply from Samsung. Known to have this common problem. If you can, or have a friend that can Solder components?. Unplug your set remove the back panel & locate your power supply. It will be the PCB in the center of the set just above the Video/Audio connections. http://www.shopjimmy.com/power-supply-unit-lj44-00118a-from-philips-50mf231d-40.htm. Is a Link to a photo of the PCB. Make a note of the locations of all cable connections then unplug them all. Un-install PCB, Check all Fuse first. I believe their is 5 or 6 of them on the PCB. Then replace the two 3300uf 10v 105C Radial capacitors at C8060 & C8059. Look to see if the Caps are deformed and or split at the top. The location of the caps are in the Lower bottom edge of the PCB. A local shop may Carrie them if not, digi-key has them. Part # http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail&name=493-1754-ND. Total cost was $7 with S/H.

Error 7 is a power related problem. This is what u need to do.
Remove back cover.
Plug in power when tv goes into error protection, check power supply and see how many times the led flashes. Right below the flashing green led there is a list 1-13 of error codes and what they mean. Your problem will probably be an error 7or 8 VSET or VSCAN . Which ever error code it gives you VA VSET or VSCAN or whatever it indicates look at the cable connectors to the power supply unplug that connector and the TV will stay on. And there will be your problem.
