Question about Canon Rebel XT / EOS 350D Digital Camera
It could be the switch, the switch in the 300d is a software switch and doesn't actually cut and supply power to the camera. The best way to figure out if it is simply the switch is get the camera powered up and switch it off by opening the battery cover, If the camera powers up reliably opening and closing the battery cover your in with a good chance its just the switch.
other wise it could be anything, power supply, cpu problems... it may be worth re flashing the software as long as the camera can be coaxed into staying on once on, if the camera powers off while writing firmware it can be fatal to the camera...
Fitting isn't too much of a nightmare but involves removing both front and back of the camera and de-soldering quite a few wires.
There is also some danger involved as the flash capacitor is quite chunky on these and bite quite hard if you touch the wrong thing so its not recommended to open any digital camera if you don't know what your doing...
Parts for canon cameras are available from most approved service centers but its worth phoneing a few as the markup differs from one to another. another way is to buy a faulty camera from somewhere like ebay and use parts from that..
Best of luck
