Question about Canon Digital Cameras

My Canon G2 at times

On my Canon G2 at times there is either a delay when you try to take a picture or you can't take one at all and it makes alot of noise when it's trying to auto focus. I think it has to do with the timer icon on the display in play back mode. It doesn't show the clock, just the tiny battery symbol at the top of the clock. I've scrolled thru all the menus but don't see what will make that go away and I don't remember it being there before.

It's a 128MB compact flash card from PNY

  • bert Jun 04, 2008

Thank you so much I did take out both batteries and after I put them back in I got the promt to set the date/time on the LCD monitor. Now I can take pictures and play them back but the LCD monitor is black all the time when in camera mode not play back mode. That little icon is still there in Pb but I think my problem is better, I think, I hope.

It works in PB mode, also when on camera it does work in the changing color mode, stitch assist mode and movie mode. On all others it is black.

Guess what, it's ok now. I just needed to push the display button on the back. Thank you for your help. I think it still makes more humming noise when it's trying to auto focus but only when the lcd screen is open while taking pictures. I guess I'll live with that.

If you leave the batteries out for a couple of hours, the camera should reset itself. Instead of waiting for it to focus, try pressing the button down halfway before taking the picture and this should speed up the focusing and will let you take a picture faster.

Let me know how this works out for you and whether you still have any other questions as I am here to help, just ask

Is the camera fully charged when this happens? Or is it at the end of the battery charge?

If you used a memory card, take it down to CVS pharmacy or the equivalent, and have your pictures put on disk. They normally charge around 1. to 3. dollars, depending on how many pictures you have on your camera.

Canon PowerShot G2 buttons don't work

You have a bad button board . This is a single board with a series of small button switches that control all these functions. Most repair shop will charge around 75.00 to fix.

Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS Digital Elph

there are some settings that can help with this (check out red eye and flash settings). The best solution I have found is to press the button down half way. The view finder will try to frame the picture, and then press the button all the way down. This 1) Eliminates Red Eye 2) Increases picture speed 3) allows for the "perfect" moment because you can leave it at half pressed for as long as you like, and 4) Allows you to take rapid fire pictures if you don't depress all the way.

Hope that helps

A Fubar - whats does that mean - but your camera looks like it is one. A new camera I suspect is the next thing to buy But check Canon customer support- they may have a remedy for 'Fubars'

Canon G2 Powershot suddenly went dead

I read of a simmilar problem - a "zoom brush", caused by a faulty part, number CL1-1006-000. Usualy it appears earlier in the cameras career though... Did you try leaving it battery-less for a bit longer than the short changes? Remove it from all possible power sources(There is a small battery inside the main battery compartment) for at least a few minutes. It should reset it in case its just a system crash. Just be aware that after the reset it will ask you to input date and time, and theres another known bug of most of the buttons freezing after inputing date/time. should be fixed by pressing the display button. Hope you manage to fix it somehow...
