New asus R514 laptop , switched it on automatically set up internet connectivity and updated, then screen went blank but mouse works and pointer shows

Try restarting and wait at least 5 minutes to see if the screen appears, if not reboot and run in safe mode and see if you get the same problem, if you don't then your best option is to perform a system restore.

Screen goes blank

This is most probaby because of a loose display cable connection .As the cable runs through the hinge slot to the mainboard of the laptop, open the laptop full and try pressing carefully on the left side of the laptop near the hinges area. this should give you the display back.

This message appears on the screen after the ASUS screen. Then nothing. Help

In Most cases if a screen can display and shows signs that your laptop was loading then shows nothing later many times your windows may be corrupt or damaged so you will need to re-install windows on your laptop....i would recommend windows xp 2 and just after installing please try installing an anti virus immediately before any other program is added and don't forget to update the anti virus first. Please also give more information on what kind of message appears before the screen goes blank.

Has a Toshiba Tecra 9000 won't power up. Power light on front is blanking which appears to be a code 3-3-2

The problem is cause due to one of the following: the backlight or the display, check your monitor brightness settings. Sometimes your brightness may accidentally have been all the way turned down, resulting in a blank/dark screen. The monitor controls are on the keyboard, directly above the numeric keys.
Look closely at your laptop's screen if the steps do not restore power to it and if it remains blank. Can you see a faint image on the screen? If so, the backlight may be off due to the LCD "lid close" detector malfunctioning. This malfunction likely happened due to the lid close switch being stuck in the "closed" position even though the lid is open. The switch is located beside the LCD's screen hinges, and tapping the switch a few times should unstick it.
Use an S-Video cable and plug your laptop up to an external monitor, such as your television set. With the laptop and TV hooked up, turn both on and see if your computer's desktop is displayed on the TV. You can also use a fifteen ( 15 )pin monitor desktop monitor by connecting it to the blue fifteen ( 15 ) connector at the side of the laptop if you cannot see anything on screen it is the display problem. If it is, your laptop's display needs to be replaced. If not, your motherboard and/or video subsystem may need to be completely removed and replaced.

When I power up laptop screen is blank

You may have a burned video adapter.

A trouble shoting setp you can try is attatching an external display and seeing if that works.
Also try the function F5 key combo. I think that is the ASUS mapping to switch display output.

PC screen display breaks up

If parts (motherboard) were replaced under warranty, there still could be other issues related to the first issue. For example, it could be a loose cable from the new motherboard to your screen or other issues.

For example, in Control Panel, try turning off any screen savers or power management or saving features.

Have you ran a Dell diagnostic and if so, what does it say?
Here's how:

  1. Restart the computer.
  2. As the computer boots, press < F12 > when the Dell Splash Screen appears
  3. When the Boot menu appears, highlight the Boot to Utility Partition option, or the Diagnostics option and then press < Enter > to start the 32-bit Dell Diagnostics.
