I had the same problem with the same camera. What worked for my pc was to start the Nikon Transfer software, select the camera and press the "start transfer" button. Nothing happens for about 6-7 minutes, but after that the transfer starts. My pc: XP SP3 Camera: Coolpix L100 Nikon Transfer: ver. 1.3.0 (i used the software that came with the camera not the up to date version 1.5.3, but it might work with that version also
1) Run your picture project program under XP SP 2 'compatibilty mode'.
2) Run the picture project program in XP mode if your computer and version of Windows 7 allows it (eg. Professional or Ultimate versions but your computer processor will need to support 'hardware virtualization).
3) Run the program in a Virtual machine with XP installed: I would use Sun VirtualBox which is free and does not need hardware virtualisation (unlike windows 7 'native' XP mode or VPC2007).
As you can see, you do have some options to overcome Windows 7 shortcomings! Hope it helps.
Call up www.fujifilmusa.com and look up the model A330 software support. It has a new version(newer than XP) called out as rev 1.77. It doesn't say it's for Vista, but it may be for it. Try downloading it.
I don't know why this wouldn't work on Vista HP, but this excerpt from the manual suggests that your XP SP1 Pro would not work without the SP2 rollup:
"Please perform the following upgrades before connecting the camera to a computer. -Upgrade Windows XP to SP2. Install Windows XP SP2. -Install Windows Messenger 5.0 or later version. Download Windows Messenger 5.0 or later version, and install it. -If using MSN Messenger, please install MSN Messenger 7.0 or later version."
Perhaps if you are following the steps exactly in the manual and it still does not work, upgrading Messenger will magically help.

Hello Callie, If You are referring to Microsoft Windows ME operating system,I will advise you to upgrade to Windows XP operating system.Windows ME was the worst Windows version that Gates ever sold to the public !!!!! It is junk. Upgrade your system as advised and you will not have any other problems with hardware. Best Regards, Russell To let you know,I am a computer tech !!!!!!!
