Hi, Did you try to clean beneath the copy glass? On digital machines, when the copy glass or optics are dirty, copy becomes verry light.
How many copies do you have? pres 123 button. It also could be that you need to change the toner station, by the book it goes 300000 copies. But I bet on dirty copy glass and dirty scanner assy.Clean the glass with glass cleaner and polish it with dry cloth.
Are you trying to replace the old toner or is this the first time -- new out of box? There is a pattern / order you have to follow to replace the cart. To make it easier, have the right cover open while doing this ( replacing the carts). Also make sure that you have the protective covers and tape off of the cart. Use the light colored area on the cart. to hold and DO NOT TOUCH THE DRUM !!!
On the copier display screen is their a tab that says "send"? If not then you do not have the fax option installed. If you have the machine on your network, find out the IP address assigned to the machine and enter the IP address in the address bar of your Internet Explorer browser to access the machine settings from your PC. If you have a fax option you should be able to set it up from there.
