Hi,
I personally use a Dell XPS 1530, because my requirment was a gaming laptop with great perfromance and looks.
If you are looking for great value for money buy and service, and if your day to day requirments is surfing the net and not carrying too often, Go for an acer .
If the weight of the laptop is consideration , go for the Toshiba satellite series. Great laptops .
Its best to stay away from Lenova and Compaq.. the plastics are too cheap and donnot have that feel.
You can also look for Dell Inspiron series ... has loads of color combinations to choose from.

Thanks

Have you tried to disable the fast boot? Did that help or not?
When did this start to happen?
Do you have any issues with Hibernating or Restarting?

After a few minutes of use laptop trips off

This sounds like an overheating issue. Most likely your laptop is no moving enough air through your system. This could be caused by a build up of dust where the air is blown out or a failing fan. I would suggest purchasing a can of compressed air from office depot and spraying out the dust. When you do so you should hold the can straight up and down and use short bursts. If you hold the trigger down or turn the can upside down and spray it will be very cold fast. Also hold the fan from spinning using a paper clip to prevent shocking you motherboard. If you let the fan spin it will create electricity and could fry the motherboard. Also laptop coolers help a lot they are basically small laptop holders that have built in fans. They can be purchased at walmart or bestbuy.

I recenlty purchased an asus U52F - i5, 4gb, 640HD notebook - it's fast!! - I am having bootup issues - on occassion, upon bootup, I get an error message that the "desktop" file cannot be found...

Hi,

This is a windows software issue you will need to reinstall windows, I would back your laptop up if you have any data you wish to keep onto disk and use your recovery disks that you should have got with your laptop. If you have no disks and you can log into your laptop there is usually a program that will let you create recovery disks. Create them and use them to reinstall your operating system.

This should solve the desktop error.

Hope this helps need anymore info feel free to ask.
