Question about Eureka 5892AVZ Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum

Eureka Boss - no suction in upright postion

Been having the same problem since we bought it a few months ago. The attachment has suction, but no suction in upright position. Have cleaned everything - several times. I'm tired of vacuuming bent over using the attachment only~!! What is the cause and if I need servicing - how much can I expect to pay? I bought this vacuum because it was recommended by consumer reports, but regret it.

I've lost suction when in floor mode. Hose mode works fine, and the brush is still spinning. There's just no suction and the hair just stays on the carpet.

Same thing happened to me.  I owned it less than a week.  It shut off after my kids tried vacuuming up a shoe string.  The suction automatically shut off and the string didn't get stuck in it, but now the suction won't go back on.  The hose works fine though.  And it's connected properly...

When mine does that I find that the hose is not connected properly where it comes off to use the attachments.
If there is suction there, it is a straight shot to the floor unless it is loose where it fits together.

Eureka Smart Vac The Boss no suction from either setting. I have taken it apart trying to see if it was clogged but it isn't. Checked the hose it is not sliced.

Remove the bag cover and feel for suction above the motor. If their is suction there then check the bag compartment is sealed. You can drop a coin down the hose to check for blockages all the way to where the bag attaches.

Bare floor selection still rotates brushes

Your switch should have 2 different on positions. One for simple suction and one to engage the beater. The setting without the beater being engaged should be first position from off and the beater would be second position

The brush does not spin when making contact with carpeting

I tried the electrical-tape-around-the-wooden-spindle technique. After a minute or so, it's back to functioning normally.

Dirt does not go in the dustdup

Take off the front top filter (the clear plastic peice where it says eureka) there should be two filters inside, the bit of foam and the peice it's attached to.

I clean both parts in warm soapy water and let dry, that always fixes the problem for me.

Hose has no suction

Most uprights need to be in the up-right locked position to enable the hose pickup.

Eureka the Boss bagless

Sounds like you have a clog somewhere. Check the filter inside the dust compartment, if is very dirty it won't allow ait to flow thru, Part #62132, DCF-H filter. Check the hose, take it off if you can and drop something in it to see if it comes out the other end, if it doesn't, then the hose is clogged. Check bown by the brush roll, the inlet may be plugged. Also if the belt is more then say 6 months old, you may want to replace it, I am sure it is strertched, part #61120B, extended life belt.
