when I turn the camera on the lense will not stay out, the screen will not stay on, and the camera will only stay on when in playback mode.

GE A830 - I push the power button and the green light flashes. Nothing else happens. The lens doesn't open and the screen never comes on. I can spin the dial to any setting - it doesn't matter. The batteries are new.

What kind of batteries are you using? Weak batteries would cause your problem. And have you checked your camera setting? Check the power saving thing, it might be set to turn off the camera.

Why won't my camera lense stay open

Its the power saving feature that retracts lens if camera not used for a set length of time.
If you want camera lens to stay open longer, change the settings by assigning a longer period of time.

I dropped the camera and now the lens cover does not stay open or closed. It no longer clickes when it is open or closed.

clicking is done when the lens unit/camera i ok,when the camera dropped lens unit must be damaged,so it should be serviced/replace with a new unit

The lens on my L730 digital camera does not open.

Hi, I had exact the same problem with mine Samsung L730. I opened it and took the 2 flatcables from the circuit board (to the lens-unit) out of there connectors. After I put them back in again, the camera worked. I geuss it was a bad electric connection of the lens-unit. Maybe this will solve your problem. If the camera is older than 1 year and has no warrenty, just try this. Good luck.

Lens cover stays open

hello lmsmith, the reason the lens protection shutter does not close, is that it is either jammed by sand, dirt or sticky substance. it is going to need cleaning by a qualified technician.

The only way to fix a lens error is to send into casio and have it fixed. Call them at 800-706-2534 option 2 and tell them you have a lens error. They will tell u how to go about sending it in for repair.

Lens cover stays open

Try blowing lots of compressed air around the open lens shutter to clean the mechanism. Or use a hair dryer for a few seconds (don't want to heat up the camera). Also with the lens barrel extended and pointed downward, tap the lens barrel with a pencil while you extend and retract the lens by powering the camera on and off. A grain of sand in the mechanism is usually the culprit, and you want to try to dislodge it.

You can open it up, but only as a very last resort. The above procedures usually work if you try them enough. But for those particularly nasty stuck mechanisms, here's an example repair on a Canon Powershot A400 (do this at your own risk, and it will void your warranty):
