I was in the middle of a game, when my playstation decides to turn itself off. i came to turn it back on.. the green light comes on, then it beeps a few times turns to a yellow light, then goes to a flashing red light? can u tell me what this means. luke

If the system turns on but then turns itself off, beeps at you and flashes it's lights at you then you have over heated the system. The GPU chip has probly pulled itself away from the board. This will require you to diassemble the PS3...... u just fix this by using ps3 repair guide....

try this:
it works for slimline PS2. might work for PS3.
1) turn off PS3
2) unplug PS3 and wait a minute or two before plugging back in.
3) turn on PS3

not a solution but a possible answer it is possibly the ylod (yellow light of death) it seems a few people are getting this and my ps3 has broke aswell even sony dont know what is wrong with it. but your problem sounds like the ylod
