I want to know whats wrong with my t-mobile dash. Whenever I go to any type of settings an error screen appears stating "Error 'The settings could not be opened'". I can't set my alarm. I can't change my screen options or change it from vibrate mode to normal mode. I can't delete any pictures. I want to know if i could fix the problem or have to get my phone checked out.

Make sure the phone is not running too many programs at once. I know that when I have Adobe Reader and Windows Media Player open, it will run REALLY SLOW. So, don't have those open at the same time. Also, when I've downloaded 3rd party app, specifically YOU TUBE, my phone has gotten the problem where the settings cant' be opened. In order to fix this, hard reset you phone, BUT FIRST BACK UP ALL YOUR ITEMS THAT ARE STORED ON YOUR PHONE MEMORY, because it deletes them. It also deletes your calendar info, just to let you know. I have pretty much everything on my phone saved on a Micro SD card; I reccomend using one to back up your data. So, to hard reset the phone to get rid of the bugs, go to the Start Menu, go to Accessories, and then click "Clear Storage." Follow the instructions. PS: The phone starts itself up 2 times during the process. Hope it works. Also, in reality, 3rd party apps should work because my brother has the same phone I do, and he has a lot of apps and games on his, and his phone doesn't have a single problem. Guess we're just some of the unlucky ones stuck with a defective Dash.
It hasn't been unlocked, try again and follow these instructions:
Model : T-mobile BlackBerry Models
1 – On the Home screen, click the Tools icon. The Options screen
2 – In the tools screen, select the Settings icon.
3 – Scroll to SIM Card and select it. You should see the phone number
and the SIM ID number.
4 – Type ‘mepd’ to display the first five levels of SIM locking.
T-Mobile uses network locking so the Network should display Active.
All other states should display Disabled
Please note: For the Blackberry 7100t you will hit the “P” twice when
entering the ‘mepd’ and ‘mep2′ for steps 4 & 5.
5 – Type ‘mep2′ to display the dialog box asking for the unlock code
(Press the Alt + 2 key to get the number 2)
6 – Input the Network Unlock code
7 – Press ENTER and reboot handheld. Model : BlackBerry Pearl 8100 (Alternative instructions if

Can be done without a sim card inserted

then select “options”.

instructed. No need to hit keys twice to get a letter either. Type m e p
p d to display the first five levels of SIM locking. Most companies use
network locking so the Network should display Active. All other states
should display Disabled ( you will not see text appear on screen
while typing )
5 – Type m e p p 2 to display the dialog box asking for the unlock
(Press the Alt + 2 key to get the number 2) ( you will not see text
appear on screen while typing )

The Windows Mobile installation may be corrupted.
The only way to fix that problem is by re-installing the windows software on the phone.
You can get the software for the T-mobile dash at the following link: http://www.t-mobile.com/wmupgrade/
If you have your T2 connected via cradle/cable, then there really should be no problem. Just make sure your host settings are set identically to your pc's IP info/dial up or broadband service info. If you're trying to connect wireless, you need to have wireless service in order to connect. AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint are a few good wireless providers. Good luck!
