Thomson 80gb freeview recorder box (Top up tv model) UK

Hi Guys,

I have an 80gb Thomson freeview recorder box, which I purchased from Comet in October. My problem is that not only does it freeze and turn itself off but it also fails to make recordings because it randomly doesnt pick up channels.

For example if I was to change channels from BBC1 to BBC2, then BBC2 would show up as if it had no signal. However if I were to turn off the box on to standby and then turn it back on again it would work fine. Sadly as I can't be there to do this when recordings are required I am missing my recordings and the therefor have a £100 **** freeview box which can't even do what a £10 can!

Any ideas? Who should I go to about this, Comet or Thomson?

Thomson dti6300-16

You can still record all the freeview channels. What has happened is you've run out of room on your hard drive. First you must deselect all the top up channels;
menu > 'Setup' > 'Customise TUTV', and un-ticking all boxes releases space and produces a report of '100%' free for recording. The time available for recording depends on the size of the hard drive and amount of data saved in each recording and 15% of disc space is not counted. This is for software or programme information etc. and, even when not subscribed, ads from TUTV are downloaded to library. However they are replaced or removed automatically, and messages are deleted after a week.
Also delete all the recordings in the library you don't need anymore.

I have auto retuned my recorder as per instructions today and now I cannot recive channel 5 at all

You may lose some channels when you retune the TV as the channels have been rearranged. To locate them look at the EPG although you may still find that some channels are no longer available on FREEVIEW. See the following link for additional information

If the above process does not work then check the link above for additional information and also visit the accompanying site links below to find more information for your model of TV / FREEVIEW box.
