Re: cannot get correct resolution
1. It could be limitation of your video card. Older cards would not support high resolution for LCD monitors.
2. Be sure to use DVI(digital) output from your video card. You will not get a good resolution with VGA(analog)
3. When installing driver for a monitor sometimes you will get a chose to install analog(VGA) or digital(DVI) driver. Choose the correct driver.

Well your LCD supports 1680x1050 resolution. You have to check the video/ graphics card of your PC, if it supports the same resolution or not. Let me know the model no. and your motherboard details for a better assistance.
Your windows video settings are for a monitor that has more capability (eg more pixels/finer resolution, higher refresh rate, more colour bits than the current screen can handle so it's spit the dummy.
Run your computer in safe mode (I believe that uses basic video driver) and set the video display options to a very low level, then re-start your computer again in normal mode, and set the options to the native resolution, refresh rate etc of the monitor. These should be listed in the specs that would come in the box with it (may be resolution: 1,680x1,050)
I found the solution for my problem. Initially I thought it's a monitor problem and was trying to find the drivers for it. The problems is not with my monitor but with the video adapter I use.
My video adapter has a intel chipset (Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family). Apparently the driver that I was using was quite old.
The only thing I had to do is: 1. Download the latest video adapter driver 2. Uninstall the current video adapter driver 3. Restart the system (Windows XP) 4. Install the new driver. 5. Restart the system.
This sounds like an issue with the windows driver for your video card. I have to load the viewsonic driver for my monitor first and make sure the device monitor is showing the vx2235 and not default monitor. Then make sure your video board will support the 10 x 16 format and check for any settings about horizontal scrolling. If you are running an ATI card, get the latest version of the Catalyst drivers from their web site. Hope this helps.
check did you insert external display card or using internal if not inserted then internal display card will not support above 600x800 if you want to work with high resolution then insert AGP card and reinstall drivers there are 4 type cards 1x,2x,4xand 8x you use 8x AGP card then select high resolution also you can look best movie and good support to 3D games
