Hi, This isn't a fault as such but I dropped my Olympus 700 camera yesterday and now when the power button is pressed on camera mode, the lens comes out a only a little bit and then goes back in, then out a bit and back again. The lens cover does not open properly either. The picture on the lcd screen is blurring and does not show the object you're aiming at. However, the photos on the memory card can be displayed on the lcd screen.
Any chance I can mess around with it and fix the problem or will I have to take it somewhere to be fixed? Also, how much would it cost to be fixed roughly?
When I push the power button, the lense goes in and out only a little bit, the lcd screen is blured, then the power turns off. I didn't drop mine (maybe my girlfriend did) like the other guy, but I'm having the same problem. Please help. When I push the power button, the lense goes in and out only a little bit, the lcd screen is blured, then the power turns off. The full instructions are in the "Changing the display language" section of the manual (page 13 in my copy). If you need a manual, you can download one from http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/cpg_support_manuals.asp?id=1438
Press the DRIVE button to display the drive mode selection screen. Press the DRIVE button repeatedly until the one-handed clock appears. To start the self-timer, simply press the shutter release button.
sounds like it might have got a bang, you'll have to take it to the shop, make sure you get a quote before you get any repairs done, camera repairs can be expensive.
The camera may be faulty or it needs to be reset to the factory settings.
Try removing the battery leave it out for at least 1/2 hour, then replace the battery.
If it doesn't work then you need a new camera.
HI ! this is strange as mine has just done the exact same thing on the 19th Oct !! Have Olympus put a breakdown timer in or what ??
I am sending mine back for repair as you have a 2 year guarantee on it ( you must still have the Waranty card and shop receipt though, to claim this ) . If not , then i'm afraid you may have to pay for a repair, BUT if this is an inherent fault, then you may be able to claim on this point ? I do not know what country you are in , but in the UK look at this link : http://www.berr.gov.uk/whatwedo/consumers/fact-sheets/page38311.html
Sales of goods act
In any case , may be worth contacting Olympus Support ( you can go to their web site) http://olympus-europa.com/
Hope this helps!
something is causing the camera to not boot up properly whether it is the lens or something else.. you may try to power reset... hold down the power button for 10 seconds while the battery is out of the camera
Since your camera is about 7 months old I would suggest you take to an Olympus authorized repair shop for repair under warranty. That is, if it hasn't been dropped or exposed to water or any other liquid.
