Black screen sometimes, system restore not working, remote assistance,

It all started after my brother downloaded a game on my laptop and the next day started having a problem with my screen going black but could hear when it was starting n shutting down but if i take it near a screen i can bearly see anything. at first i just though that it wouldnt happen again so i uninstalled the game but it didnt stop there it black screen kept on appearing and i had to restart my laptop like 9-10 times for the lights to come on. then i thought abt asking a friend of mine to look at my laptop thru remote assistance but when i tried connecting it didnt go thru. later on that day i tried system restore to an earlier date and did that like 3-4 times but non of them worked.
can someone plz help me

My screen was going off to black repeatedly, if I didn't touch the keyboard. Now, it doesn't show anything, though it is powered. Blue and green lights working. Nothing else.
What is wrong, and how to fix it?

Tried to install nortan on sony vaio laptop next day i tried to start laptop it shows the system menu but then image error pops up with a black screen. cannot use laptop i think i may have lost data....

There might be a problem during the installation of norton. What you can try to do is to perform a system restore and bring back the computer to an earlier date before you install norton or befor you get the problem. Here are the steps on how to do it:

  1. restart the computer
  2. press F8 key repeatedly when you see the VAIO logo until you get the screen that says Advanced boot option
  3. use the arrow keys on the keyboard to highlight safemode then press enter
  4. when it loads to safemode, go to start menu
  5. go to all programs
  6. click accessories
  7. click system tools the select system restore
  8. on the system restore window, click next
  9. in choose a different restore point, you will see list of dates or calendar where you can pick a date that you want to use in restoring back the computer settings.
  10. click on the next button again
  11. click finish
the computer will start restoring the settings back to the selected date which may take for a few mins(2mins to 10mins usually). system restore does not delete any personal files/documents. It only undo software applications, updates and settings.

Lap top screen is black

If you are running with XP try switching the unit on and pressing F8 while the computer is booting up

This should put you into Safe Mode

If that works go to Start , Accessories, System Tools ,System Restore and if the shop did the right thing when they built it you will have the System Restore function running
Ask the machine to do a System Restore and it should give you a number of dates to restore to, pick on that is a few days before the last update and let it roll
